Smile Eco-friendly way to celebrate Diwali

Hi ILites,

With the festive season right around the corner, I just thought I should start this thread. Each year, we all celebrate Diwali with a lot of joy. But most of us forget how much pollution and wastage we do during this season.

So, lets discuss some eco-friendly ways to celebrate Diwali and other festivals this year....

I totally agree with you. Each year, Diwali seasons leave a lot of amount of pollution in the air and on land. Whether it Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi or any other festival, people do a lot wastage of food, paper and electricity.

I think we all should pledge that this year, we are going to celebrate an eco-friendly festival season.

Nice thoughts sushma,

You know, to have a eco friendly festival season, I plan to cut out the wrapping papers on the gifts. Instead, I will get nice jute bags and put gifts in them. This will save the paper wastage and people can reuse the jute bags for other things also.

Thanks for starting this thread.
As a good step we stopped lighting crackers, no electric illumination, we light just a few diyas.
