So to sum it up french to hindi.........

vous = aap (you), aap se (with you), aapke(your)
t' or tut = tu(you) or tum(you) or tera/tere(your)

aime = pyar(love) OR pasand(like)

je t'aime = main tumse pyar karti hoon

je aime vous = hum aap se pyar karte hain

correct me if I am wrong

now some of the threads in Hindi will be

Raat ka khana kya (bani) hai = whats for dinner tonight

chalo naya khel khele = lets play a new game

Huma,
I was stuck on translating copy cat ?? game thread started by you in hindi and couldn't remember whats the exact word for copy cat in hindi (chit chor??) tried a web search and came across this site:
Wordanywhere Forum - phrase translation ( m-f)

you might want to check it out. Found a nice request in there to translate couple of lines in hindi into english and the response to that request. Posting it here

Question by marie Answered by radha

hum khamosh the to majboor samajh liya , If I remain silent you interpret it as helplessness
hum chup the to garoor samajh liya , If I remain quiet you interpret it as pride
bus yahi galti thi apki , This is your fault
hum itne karib the apke , I was so near to you
fir bhi hume door samajh lia Even then you thought I was far

I think this idea is simply great. Good for you both, Huma and Blondie.
Blondie, looks like you have a knack with languages. That was some quick sum up that you did, equating French and Hindi.
Huma, how come you know French? Was it school or did you take it up as an extra language. I always had a wish to learn French and ended up learning German instead:icon_frown: Well, there is still time and hope and here seems to be a little opportunity:)

L, Kamla

hi huma,
A very nice idea. the only catch is when u write french and then spell it, it sounds different isn't it? i mean the pronounciation is very different from how u write it na? Still i'm looking forward to read and learn from here maybe u can teach us how to pronounce it also. As for hindi it's not difficult at all... u can ask us anything u want to know

Hi Huma,

thanks for the correction. Last week my son made a badge for me it says some thing like:
je aime ma mere = I love my mom?? (he made it in his introduction to foreign languages class).

now coming to Hindi

game of public personalities = Khel prasidh vyakti ka

game = Khel

of = ka

public = prasidh (here assuming famous)

personalities = vyakti (here assuming people)

it is hard to do a word to word translation as you can see we cant fit in 'Ka' at the place 'OF' it comes at the end.

If you post a sentence that you want to learn to say in hindi that will be good.

Now how should i respond to my son in french?? I want to learn to say I love my son.

Kamla,
thanks, looks like the years of teaching both my kids comprehension and memory tricks are paying me off in my senior years....

Pushpa
