| Hi, Huma the days and months in hindu calender are named in sanskrit. Since many Indian languages are based off of sanskrit, for example telugu, Hindi, bengali, kannada, tamil etc... the day names and month names are common. Monday = Soma vaar(hindi) Soma vaaram (telugu) (day of the moon) Tuesday = Mangal Vaar (H) Managala vaaaram (day of Mars) Wednesday = Budh Vaar, Budha vaaram (Day of Mercury) Thursday = Guru Vaar, Guru vaaram (Jupiter) Friday = Shukr vaar, Sukra vaaram (Venus) Saturday = Shani vaar, Sanivaaram (Saturn) Sunday = Ravi vaar, Aadivaaram (Sun) Hindu Months start from mid month to mid month Beginning March. Month is Maas in Hindi and maasam in telugu. so the below names followed by maas are the names of months from march to february in Hindi. To get the correct pronounciation the 'a' at the end is short for hindi and long for telugu Chaitra March - April Vaishaka April - May Jyaistha May – June Asadha June – July Srawana July- Aug Bhadrapada Aug-Sep Asvina Sep.- Oct Kartika Oct – Nov. Margasira Nov- Dec Poushya Dec- Jan Magha Jan - Feb Phalguna Feb-Mar toh Humaji aap ka pichla sani aur ravi vaar kaise tay?? (So Huma how were your last sat.& sunday) Last edited by Blondie; 14th May 2007 at 05:22 PM. Reason: spelling |
