Smile Unique Money Saving Tips

Hey,

why don't we share some great and unique money saving tips that you practice in your life. For example, instead of wasting money on brand new pillow covers, I took my moms old sarees and created ethnic looking beautiful pillow cases. Do you know how much they cost me? Rs 20 per piece

So, tell me, how do you save money in your daily life?

Hi,

Try to reduce fuel bills by planning your outings -make sure u do as many jobs as possible in that route in a trip.

This helps saving fuel and time.

When purchasing groceries, provisions etc. try not to buy 10% of your needs.

You will be surprised to note that ur monthly provisions will still last throughout the month bcoz u spend carefully and avoid wastages .

This is good thread...

switch of all the electronics and unplug all the chargers etc from power outlets before going to sleep or use one or two electric surges iwth multiple connections and switch of hte surges before going to sleep ( no point in having the wireless router or dish receiver powered on through out the night) this saves atleast 10 to 15$ power bill in a month and also unplug all the chargers as soon as the job is done

Here's what I do... I never take my car any place to which I can walk to. I walk to the market, chemist, sabji mandi, etc. This not only saves me a lot of money, but also keeps me fit.

I also save money by making sure that nobody is wasting water and electricity in my house...

Hi friends,
This is a great and useful thread.
i live in a joint family, usually i see food getting wasted much sometimes, bcos we cant ensure each person's consumption. so with leftover things we can try better delicious food which i have seen in many websites, by this method we can ofcourse save.

pillow covers is indeed a great idea !

regards,
kavitha

I save money by making my face pack and scrubs right at home. I make them and take to parlour and ask my beautician to use them. This not only saves me money, but I also ensure that I only put all natural things on my face.

I don not go for shopping when I'm not in a good mood..
When we are sad we tend to purchase more due to self-pity.

We do monthly household shopping i make an excel shopping list with the prices or i check the prices out at the supermarket as it is a 5 min walk from my office( these supermarkets are all over the city) and i write it down so i know how much i need to spend, i then buy whatever i get from thesupermmarket i go walking and come walking with the trolley whatever i don't get i make sure i buy it from their other branches so if it is a sunday i make list of where i have to go and i leave home early immediately after breakfast and am back home by lunch and all errands are finished, in the shopping list i add miscellenous items becasue we tend to buy somethings not on the list so i put a certain amount and no other un-necessary expenses are done, as my younger sister loves to just buy new deos or face scrubs.
i shop mostly from the city where my office is so i walk and no money is wasted.
We grow most of our vegetables at home as e have big garden area and we just pluck from the garden what we want to eat, for groceries we have ladies coming home with the groceries every day so we buy from them, only once in a while we go to the grocery shop to buy certain vegetables.
We harvest our rain water, we collect all the rain water in drum, then pass it through a sieve to clean it and use that water for washing clothes and utensils as we have shortage of water in our country.
I do not use plastic bags to pack my customers goods i pack them in newspaper and hten in brown paper bags and we recycle our old newspapers by using them as packing material.Whenever i go shopping for grocery or to supermarket i take my own sisal bags to put in all the items i have purchased.
my lotions when they are finished especially my cleaners and moisturisers i cut the bottles as they are in plastic bottles and you will not believe buti can scoop out crean that would last me a week, i would scoop it out nad transfer it to another bottle and use it you can do the same with your scrubs and other lotions.
love

I do that too. I couldn't believe how much of products I was wasting before. Now I use everything till the last drop. My DH laughs at me for this but I answer back that I am saving his own kamaii. He doesn't say anything after that

Every time I go shopping , I stash 5-10% of my bill amount's

equivalent in a seperate box.

by the month endI have collected a sizable amount without extra effort.

And, when I go to restuarants, I avoid desserts- saves money and keeps

me fit!
