Shiji,
Rightly said..
Time management...is difficult at first but it is easy as we get used to it.

Eventhough we finish off our job in 24 hours...still some works will be pending..or some we could have postponed it till the next day or even a week..
Early rising is one thing, which makes our time plan successful..

Hi Shiji,

Like any habit , time management comes with sheer practice.

As all of us have the same 24 hours ,it's purely in our hands

to do more things effectively, efficiently and effortlessly.

Some simple tips to manage time efficiently...

1. Make a TO DO LIST.

make sure u stick on to it and do the jobs as much as u can.

2.Learn to KILL IDLE TIME.

Plan a series of jobs to save time.

Eg. Drop check in bank on the way to work. ..SMS boss while waiting at bank...Pick up Mitoo's uniforms from tailor on the way home ...chop veggies as u catch up with T.V. news..

3. PRIORITISE
Don't do not so urgent jobs when under pressure.

4.Wake up 15 mins earlier every day and that really helps save time.

5. Learn to MULTITASK.

It saves loads of time for U.

Hi shakambari,

Thanks for the points... But i don't think multitasking is a correct thing...

We'll end up in doing nothing at the end of the day isn't it??

Marun,

I would say multitasking is the best thing to increase ur efficiency

as well as help manage ur time effectively.

Nature has designed the WOMAN's neural network in such a way

that she can do upto 4 things at a time efficiently...infact we can

increase it with practice.

One simple example of multitasking and effective timemanagement clubbed together is my helper...

As she enters my house in the morning she picks up the milkpackets and immediately shoves the strewn about socks ,slippers etc. into the shelf, switches on the motor, rushes into the kitchen...places the milk to boil, moves the dishes to utility, soaks, dishes dumps clothes in machine and is back to switch off the gas because she knows boiling milktakes 6-7 mins ...she need not wait near the stove till that...after that she switches off the motor because she knows the water tank is topped upby 7-8 mins...

This is just a small eg.

All ladies manage 2 dishes effortlessly is 2 burners as they chop veggies + mind kid's home work and also converse in the phone ...and she goofs up in none.

Thanks sriniketan !!

Thank you so much Shakambari on giving valuable points as well as simple examples. I hope that surely help some of our members to manage their time effectively and efficiently.

I would like to add some more points to manage time successfully:

1. Have a self discipline
2. Before sleep have plan of activities to be done in the next day and prioritise
3. Avoid time killers (eg. Some people are too fond of chatting through phone, internet or face to face.
4. Avoid Procrastination (Don’t delay or postpone any work which is important and urgent)

hi

Time management is easy when u plan the activities accordingly.....

see make a note of the activities that u r suppose to do in office and in home then segrigate the time evenly

For example : if u want to be there in office by 9am ....the list of activities that ur suppose to do in home are to prepare breakfast and lunch so if u wake up by 5:30 half an hour goes for u refreshing activities then it will be around 6 half an hour tiffen preparation then after time is 6:30 make arrangements for u lunch complete it off by 7:30 max rest half an hour for u bath and get ready and get ready for the travel to office

like this u can plan each abd every activity......................

Supraja , Shiji and Srini ...Thanks for ur inputs.

Indeed proper planning reduces time waste to a great extent .

One small tip-

Don't waste morning time on unnecessary activities which eat up ur time.

Eg.Keep phone conversatoins crisp .Avoid unnecessary arguments over

trivia. Keep ur dresses , things to be taken to work/ school etc ready the

prev. night itself to avoid tensions and hurry.

A relaxed and orderly morning gives us a smoother day.

Thanks Marun, Sriniketan, Supraja and Shakambari !!!

Now our discussions are concentrating only house hold works. Let us expand it to office also.

Procrastination is the major issue against proper time management. This may happen with the following reasons:

n Don’t know where to start.
n To avoid an unpleasant task.
n We’re afraid to fail.
n Waiting for more information.
n You may think if you put it off someone else will do it.
n You’re over-committed.

These things could be managed by the following steps:
  • If you don't absolutely need to get it done, don't put it on your To-Do list.
  • Substitute a less daunting task for the one you are thinking of putting off. Make sure it accomplishes the same thing.
  • Remember that you don't have to do it perfectly
  • Check e-mail only when you have time to answer new messages.
  • If you procrastinate because you don't like doing the task, ask yourself if you are the one who really needs to do it.
  • Decide that some things don't have to be done.
  • Just start it! The most difficult part of many chores is getting started. Once you begin, the task is often easier than you expected.

I hope more discussions will be coming up.

Shiji
