BRIBE and ME

Hi friends,

I feel proud to claim that till this period in my life, I have come across nearly 6-7 situations where I didnot offer bribe to the govt officials. I treat this as one of my ethical values that I have to preseve and will stick to it in my life.

The bribe occassions were

1. Getting community certificate from Collector Office
2. Transporting of my Kinetic Honda by train between Bangalore and my native.
3. Purposely issued speeding ticket by Traffic corps
4. Parking 4 wheeler in Sudden NO-PARK zone in Besant Nagar
5. EB fuse removal as discrepancy in EB bill was not sorted by due date and failed the Bill Payment.
6. During collection of 4 wheeler license


Hope some of you may be able to add similar situations and how you managed it giving or not giving bribe..

First three cheers for not going through the alternative route. I have tried the straight route and it is very very difficult and is made more difficult by the corrupted people.

1. I had to change the eb card from the builder's name to Veda's name for our house we purchased last year. the circus that ensued was so bad. MY FIL being a retired person from EB was so irritated with the way these people were doing things.I got it cleared after going to the office 10 times. and was told we have agents who will come home and do the job only thing is you have to pay our rate.

2. Got my property taxes evaluated and paid them without giving extra paise.

3. Got my ration card too...

Phew, though it is easy to write it i had gone through a hectic mad circus.
Though you have asked whether we have done works without giving, I know of lot of people who don't mind giving something to get the work done faster and this situation gets worse because of the attitude of those people.

Incidently, I came across a person who works in the customs and he confessed that if he refused to take, he may land up as dead the next day such is the power of the people running the bribes circle.

there is this muncipality guys who remove some of the garbage on the roads, and they demand money for tea from you. if you refuse, the next time they don't remove the garbage.
