| Hi all I think its a serious thread indeed for all especially young mothers with kids within 2 years.. Fortunately I am through with all my vaccination schedules for my son without hassless. However now certain doctors put the essential fact that by vaccinating with BCG the chances of TB is more, by DPT vaccine the chances of those respective infection is more and even by OPV oral polio vaccine the chances of polio attacks are more.. Is this not really panicky.. All of us have been vaccinated and in one way Government is fully active with its vaccination campaigns and we are of course with our vaccine schedules in fingertips.. What should we do now.. Are we to vaccinate or not to vaccinate.. If we are vaccinating how far it is safer both in drug perspective as well as health perspective? If we chose not to vaccinate are we going to provide a sterile (free of microbe) environment to our dear babies.. ILites wake up! Post your opinions as we are not only here to discuss only about sambar, sarees, jewellery, divorce and other trivial matters but also something meaningful like this.. | Dear Uma Vaccination is not safe in india especially in goverment sector, for my nine month old daughter my doctor refused to give measles vaccine , because my daughter scheduled vaccination day was fifteen days after that tragic government vaccination programme. Actually that measles vaccine at 9 and half months is practiced only in india that too instead of monovalent measles they are giving MMR vaccine which is more potent under the age of one year it is better to skip it in India. Till now the exact reason for those four babies tragic end has not been found. It should be revealed first and culprits should be punished severely so that others in field of manufacturing life saving drugs and vaccines will be more sincere and careful in their work. I plea to manufacturers please give us best quality medicines. Serum institute of India is the best company in manufacturing vaccines as per goverment of india. Buying 10% vaccines from some other company from hyderabad for saving a rupee per vial costed four life of innocent babies. Dear friends, vaccinate your babies with a good company's product and by a good doctor. Thank you ![]() Take care ![]()

| Hi, Me being a doctor's daughter and there being umpteen doctors in my family, i should be confident to say that vaccination is quite safe in India. The problem arises when we dont find a genuine practioner. Do get second opion from a different person, analyse and then proceed.Dont worry.Go ahead. |

| Hi twinuma, Due to negligence and 'penny wise and pound foolish' cost cutting measures, there are safety concerns with vaccinations in India. Polia is definitely a case in point. Research has proved that injectible polio is the most effective vaccine and oral polio has many drawbacks - the main one being the storage condition. But due to economics and politics, we are still doing oral polio. Reading a newsletter on this issue, I really felt that the risk is only increasing by giving this oral polio dose due to complete lack of awareness / facilities about its storage requirements. esp in rural areas. As some others have mentioned, it is better to go to a good hospital with infrastructure for vaccinations. Even for the polio programs run by the govt, I prefer going to my regular hospital than the centres. Polio needs to be stored at 4 degree or so and imagine places with power cuts and no generator. This said, there is a minimal risk with all vaccinations which is in fine print in the brochure. The idea is that this is the small price you pay for acquiring immunity in the larger community. Cheers, Sumathy |
