Default increasing stress for youth resulting in suicides.

dear all,

All cbse, icse results are out.STudents have performed well in the exams and have come out with very good marks.
Now comes the most threatening part of their life," Career".
For students who have not performed well, its more worse.
Study says," India tops the world in suicides among teenagers and56% teen suicides in the country are reported between march and july every year showing examination stress as one of the major reasons for suicides."
Do you think parents are lacking on their part?
With the increasing thirst among the parents to give their children a best future, children are subjected to more stress.
More than children, parents are more ambitious and keep comparing with others. They expect a lot from the children.THey are imposing their interests on their children.

however, We cannot put the full blame on parents alone. There are many reasons which put a tremendous pressure on the young.
Increasing competition and too much focus on marks, little time available to the students to relax, lack of correct guidance are few reasons .
Before, scoring 80% was considered big achievement. But when we see the current trend, scoring 98% min has become mandatory and 6 out of 10 children get above 95% and even then they don't get seats for their desired courses due to competion.

One parent argued with me on this. She said, her child has settled at the age of 25.
No doubt, they all settle at the age of 25.But i want to ask one question
"Are they happy"?.Certainly i am very much sure, min 60% will answer "NO".
With this increasing stress, they unable to lead a quality life. They think they cannot work after 40 which in turn adds more stress.

Dear ils,Is this not the correct time , to expect a change.Atleast, now on,let us give our children a quality life free from stress.
I too know , it is very difficult in this current trend. But nothing is impossible.
please share your views on this.

Yes Kamala,

Suicides are increasing by the day. I am not sure how much parents are to be blamed and how much the kids....but it is definitely sure that if the parents are supportive and not assertive then they will surely boost the confidence of their children.

Also its the parents and teachers role to educate the kids that if their % is less then there are so many other alternatives that they can persue as a career...it is not necessary that they have to be a Dr or an engineer or something similar.

Please try to understand their ability and interest and then nurture them...no profession is big or small as far as you earn enough to keep the fire burning in your kitchen and get self satisfaction by the end of the day.

Yes! every child has its own interest and set of mind ...i think, now we should have to be more careful about their feelings and shouldn't force them to do which they don't want.
