What you Purchased on A.T. 2008?

Hi ladies,

I am not particular about Akshya Thiritiya's gold purchase. But I think many of you would have bought things on the particular day. Or even otherwise, we are out of India, so some of you can tell us about Akshya Thiritiya's news from India. And any stories about T.Nagar area. Pelase share with us. Eagerly waiting for your replies.

This was what my mother told me last yr abt Akshaya Thrithiya.
It seams in Bangalore in all the gold shops there was a mad rush.What people normally do is that they go some 2 or 3 days before and select a gold item and on that day they just enter and pay for that and buy.On that day there is no space to even enter the shop she was telling me.
In huge places like Bhimas the shop was closed for about 3 hrs because the shopeekers could not deal with so many people.
So i think in bangalore there will be a mad mad rush to buy gold on AT day.Dont know what mother did this year.She is getting old and has arthritis and can not juggle with the crowd any more.

Thank you for your instant reply. Yes my friend's wife went to GRT (T.Nagar) 6 O clock in the morning. And she told the shops were open for 24hours continuously How mad rush you see. This time they are telling today and tomorrow as A.T. Let us see what is going to happen.

I didnt buy anything.May be because Im not in India .But basically I dont believe in that.That too these days the price of gold is not affordable.And since all of us busy insomething or other,we dont get time or an oppurtunity to wear also.So dont think theres any point in buying and keeping in locker.Instead what we r going to use thro'out the year ,if we buy that maybe thats worth.What do you all think?

I did not buy anything. I just donated money in the temple.

Magazines were advicing not to buy anything on the 8th but on the 9th as the yogam is not good on the 8th May. I am planning to get salt . We keep sending money for our b'day's wedding anniversaries and for special occasions to a particular trust. In that line have sent money for annadanam for the 9th May.

I cant take anything as i am in states this year.. but last year i have taken a gold ring for my husband..
