| Hi, One of my yoga teachers had told that if we dont drink water immediately after we have our lunch. Then we will not feel sleepy in the afternoon. I have not tried this, but u can try.... |

| Hi, To aviod sleppy at affternoon do somthing, what do you like, I like to do Excriess. reading books and listing music it's makes you to sleep.If you are coffee lover, you can take long time to drink cup of coffee, it make you awake. thanks, devi |

| Friends it is v v easy to say..but v difficult to implement........sometimes i will hav hot cup of tea and i will wah my face.........drink the tea and go to take nap....hahhahaha...not kidding........i really mean it............

| Hi, I feel that afternoons are only for myself and I don’t want to waste even a single minute. Sometimes I do have a small nap but not daily. Having a small nap is not that bad but you should not make it a routine or get addicted to it. I use to make use of my own afternoons in stitching my blouses, googling for some useful info etc., and I have a great feeling that I have not wasted my precious afternoon which is a boon to homemakers. So it is up to us to utilize it properly. Even if you don’t have any particular work, try to do something new and keep yourself busy. Like we plan our menu for breakfast lunch etc., I plan my afternoon (to do list) in the previous day itself and this partly assures that I don’t fall into the hands of afternoon nap. All these are just tried and tested suggestions. You may follow what I told or even think of new things to do. Cheers, Lakshmi |

| Hi, I rarely feel sleepy in the noon. I'l b home only on Saturday afternoons and Sundays... Saturdays I usually spend watching my fav TV channels and do some cleaning work. Sundays, (if not going out) with daily chores like cooking... cleaning... etc, I hardly get any free time, other than in the evening. I think it will help if u make up ur mind, decide firmly and say repeatedly "no I dont like to sleep in the afternoons" is enough to you awake. Jus try it, it'l work. warm regards, Anu |

| Oh...I just got so much attracted to join this discussion. Avoiding afternoon nap is very important, for I've seen myself gain some extra weight because of the naps that I took with my little one during her 1st year. It at times continues now in her 2nd year too, I try putting her to nap and end up having a nap myself. Problem with me is, I can't take short naps. End up sleeping for hours together and will then become a night owl (-: BTW, you all seem to have nice suggestions. But to be frank, I have tried some already and only a few worked for me. Not having heavy lunch - I only end up snacking a lot (I feel taking a nap is better instead). Reading is not at all an option for me in the afternoon - even I didn't feel sleepy, I will definitely dose off as I read. Watching TV too the same effect. Browsing has made me stay awake to an extent, provided I do some reading of such interesting discussions or break my head to handle some techie stuff here. Washing, cleaning are all good options though. Similarly, I make all phone calls only in the afternoon (be it to chit-chat with friends or some phone payments, etc.). Going for a walk or work out is also good, provided our little ones are not napping. Going for shopping is not an easy option for everyone living in the US, if they don't have a 2nd car I guess. Let's talk and find some good solution for this one, ladies. We don't want those extra calories by napping in the afternoons right??? Malathy |
