| Hi Indians, I am a resident of chennai. After moving to a different flat, we have faced 4 times in a span of 7 months, the EB meter was replaced fr the below reasons. 1. Stops running. 2. Runs too fast like chennai auto meters. 3. Stops running exclusively at x99 counters. I am not alone in this. My neighbour also faces similar problem. We have been standing at our EB office very often as a sincere citizen to get the Electricity meter replaced. When we made complaint to the EB office, th eline man says, they do know abt this problem abt faulty meters at x99 counters, fast calibrated meters which shows more for less consumption. But what to do? Ie the way, the meters are supplied to them from BIG companies like BHEL and others.... More over since the consumption pattern varies for summer (Mar to June) and during the rest of the season, its very less consumption because of AC's not being used. But the EB rule doesn't care abt it. It just averages the previous 2 bills and gives you an amount if the meter stops running. Typically you end up paying more for what you have not used. Would like to know how many of you have faced such situations and also how to determine whether the EB meter is running properly with/without Air conditioner on. When AC is switched on, the needle runs faster than our Olympian gold medalist P.T.Usha and during these times, it also breaks down.:)-- I have decided to switch over to a different flat if problem persists.... But would like to know am I alone in this EB meter race?

| Dear Leela, We also had the meter problem. Ours is an independant house consisting ground and first floor. We have separate meters. Our groundfloor is rented out and the meter stopped working. We gave a complaint, the EB people came and took away the meter. But the meter was replaced after six months and they were charging the average. But our tenants were not using any electrical gadgets, other than mixie. The old type of meters were replaced by eletronic ones and after that the meter pulse rate was changed and so the meter shows more units now. But as there was no protest from the public it is continuing. Love, Pushpavalli |

| They have installed all the meters in our locality outside our houses on electricity poles. The missmanaged mayhem of entangled electricity wires is very big eye sore and dangerous too. Though meters are as fast as ever.
