Gitanjali's 'husband' surfaces on blog, says he wants her back
NEW DELHI: The virtual world has been buzzing about the riches-to-rags story of Gitanjali Nagpal. Robert Stuempfl clicked on one such web page and was shocked to see the face of a woman he claims is his wife and the mother of his child stare back at him. Claiming to be Gitanjali’s estranged husband, the German urged the creator of the post (Sheetal) to put him in touch with her. Needless to say, the blog post — and accompanying photos — have created a stir.

Sheetal posted Robert’s email to her, where he says, "Gitanjali is the mom of Arthur and he needs his real mom and whatever happened, I don’t care about it."

According to the blog, Robert has also mailed across his marriage certificate as well as Arthur’s birth certificate. The boy is supposed to have been born in a hospital in Nepal. However, neither of these documents have been provided online. The post says that Robert attached these proofs in an email to convince Sheetal of the truth of his claim. There is no mention, however, about what pulled the family apart. In an email written in broken English, Robert says, "Her family never had a good relation with Gitanjali and me."He also claimed that he looked for his wife earlier but got no help from her family.

The Times of India tried getting the family’s version to authenticate the claims made by Robert but Gitanjali’s mother and sister couldn’t be reached. Their house in Lajpat Nagar wore a deserted look and the neighbours were unaware of their whereabouts. Meanwhile, Gitanjali is trying to come to terms with reality at Vimhans. Doctors there say she does not remember her husband or son and showing her the photographs could affect her mental health adversely .
