Opening bank a/c in UK

Iam an indian travelling to London on Tier I visa on 10th Jan 2009.

I will be staying in room share with an indian family.

I need help on opening a bank account in UK.

can you please let me know whether a letter from the family where i will be staying will serve as address proof.

Also please let me know which bank is easy to open a bank account.

Please provide these information since i badly need it.
