Hi Rethu:

Welcome to Indusladies.

I saw your post in another forum about fairness cream. Can't think of any fairness cream available in Europe. But I suggest you continue to use the same cream that you used until now. But take care to keep it out of direct sunlight in a cool and dry place.

My son kept his moisturiser on the windowsill the other day and it almost became a lotion:)

About your son not eating enough, you haven't mentioned how old he is. Sometimes, deworming helps. And then there are times when they have a growth spurt and therefore a good appetite, later when this growth phase slows down, the amount they eat also comes down. Also during summer the appetite does come down compared to winter. So unless, he is underweight and not active, you should not worry much about your son not eating enough.

Hope this helps.

Sindhu

HI Rethu:

Your son is a toddler now. So at that age, they are more keen in exploring and running around. Just let him eat when he is hungry. But this, I know is easier said than done for us mothers:) We like our children to be well fed with their stomachs full!

Like I said earlier, you need not worry as long he is healthy and active.

If your son is not eating properly, try something like home made soups, smashed potatoes, other Indian snacks (like dosai made of rice and all kinds of dhals ). These are healthy and even if he eats little it should give him good strength !!

Rethu,

Stavanger is such a beautiful place. I lived in Bergen for many years and have been to Stavanger. I dont think we get any fairness creams in Norway, mainly because that product is not used by the whites.

To make your son healthy, did you try the local Norwegian cod liver oil tablets? Best is to give 'traan'- oil in liquid form as the Norsk barnes drink it.But our kids will not, so try the junior cod liver oil capsules. When we were eating it regularly, we were very healthy, immune to cold, cough, skin glowing, hair thick.

Try Tine 3.9% milk and kultur milk. Also some of the milder cheese forms will increase his protein intake. Make sure he gets enough sunlight during winter months also. Dont worry, no one loses weight in Norway. They only gain and gain weight.

Ha det bra!

vennlig hilsen
Vidya

Hi Rethu,

I'm really envious... you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. We did a 2 weeks long camping trip in Norway last year. It was too quite to be true.

I want to give you very frank opinion on your 2 questions:

1. It is not necessary that a lean child is not eating well. I eat very well but I have always been thin. Only being healthy, active and happy is what that matters. My son is 3.5 years and very fussy about food. This is just a phase. It took my 25 years to appreciate food and now I don't say no to any vegetable (i'm 33 now!). So don't worry and force him.

2. Why does a 1.5 yr old need fairness cream? I'm controlling myself to actually not scold you here! Okay first thing the place where we live (i live in Germany) they don't need to use any fairness cream so you'll not get it here.

Are you feeling bad or something that your child has a different complexion compared to the locals? Actually I consider myself exotic here. People get themselves tanned at Sun-tan centers and look we are blessed with such perfect colour. Please do not imbibe any thoughts of colour, complexion in such a small child. Instead teach him that he is special if at all one day he asks you why he is different. If parents are not fair-complexioned how can you expect the child to be one!

On the other hand, if the cream is for you then whatever I have said is applicable to you too;) Hope you don't mistake me for writing out what I think!

Take care, dear friend!
Latha
