IT WAS AN ARTIFICIAL RAIN !!

DONE BY THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT AT THE NATIONAL CENTRE OF METEOROLOGY AND SEISMOLOGY (NCMS) TO REMOVE THE AIR POLLUTION ON DUBAI'S ATMOSPHERE..

IT IS CALLED 'CLOUD SEEDING' A LATEST TECHNOLOGY TO CUSTOMISE WEATHER...CLOUD SEEDING, A FORM OF WEATHER MODIFICATION, IS THE ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE AMOUNT OR TYPE OF PRECIPITATION THAT FALLS FROM CLOUDS, BY DISPERSING SUBSTANCES INTO THE AIR THAT SERVE AS CLOUD CONDENSATION OR ICE NUCLEI. THE USUAL INTENT IS TO INCREASE PRECIPITATION, BUT HAIL SUPPRESSION IS ALSO WIDELY PRACTICED. SILVER IODIDE AND DRY ICE ARE THE MOST COMMONLY USED SUBSTANCES IN CLOUD SEEDING

Dear Sunkan,
We were pleasantly surprised 2 months when it rained for only about 15 minutes. By the time we realised what happened, the rain had stoppedbonk.
The next day we read in the newspaper that it was rain by cloud seeding!! Glad you could get hold of a picture.

It was a nice photo Sunkan!But if I remember correct, 'cloud seeding' was discussed and tried in Tamilnadu,when there was an acute drought, during MGR or Jayalalitha as the CM way back.It was not successful.

I have heard about 'artificial rain' but seen it here...through your post..
I think as Kaluputti pointed out they even tried in Chennai..
