Smile Re: Comparison - Life in Middle East

Hi Sharadha,

Sorry for barging into this thread. Though I live in US, just wanted to share my . Hope you dont mind !

When we leave our country ( India ) to live in another place for job, studies etc, we should know the pros and cons of that. After deciding to live abroad ( in ur case Middle East ) we should not keep worrying about not being able to attend all the functions/occassions in India.

After coming here, there is no point in yearning or worrying about our parents and inlaws. We know for sure it may not be possible for us to go and for them to come here very frequently ! Sorry if I sound too practical ! Sure, we can make calls, have web chat, send emails frequently. World has shrunk and become small because of the internet...so we can make use of it !

Wherever we are, we have to make the place happy by having positive outlook . As for education, sure there may be good schools in your city too..right? Probably for higher education many people travel to US, Australia or Europe ! But that happens even if we live in India.

As lata rightly pointed out..."THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE".

If we want to move to a place because of many sight seeing places. or for lack friends or relatives.....that may not work out.

Bottom line is, if we miss our parents and life in India, one should not keep cribbing or feel depressed. They should make a decision and go back to India. If money is not the criteria, then they can live happily with whatever income one is getting in their own country .

We have come abroad for better income and improved living standards...so we need to get used to this life instead of sulking.

But if we are constantly worried about our parents...then we are not living our life fully here...after going back to india...we may regret that we could have made a good life abroad.

Finally, it is all in the mind...even if there are not many friends or many places to see...we can conquer boredom if we set our mind...! We should never ever brood and go into negative mode..!

We can create a healthy, harmonious and happy atmosphere wherever we live !

Cheers
Krithika

Below is what you posted when you opened the thread.....

Hi Friends,

How do you feel about the life in Middle East when compared to the life in India? Which one would you feel is better and why?

I feel that life in Gulf has become monotonous with the same routine. We miss our
parents, our friends, relatives, important occasions like weddings and our festivals. Don't you feel so?.

Many parents prefer to live in India once their child finishes their primary education. They feel that in India Education is good and there are lots of competitions regarding studies & extra curricular. Only when there is competition children tend to learn a lot.

Please share your thoughts and suggestions.

Hi krithi,

Thanks for stepping in and sharing your views. I agree with all of u that we have come to live here knowing the pros and cons. i don't deny that. No matter wherever we are, when we are outside our country its very certain that we are going to miss some important occasions in life.

I was stressing more on children's eduction.I wanted people to discuss about this cos I c most of them leaving Gulf when their children finish their primary classes to settle in India or else where. They feel that Eduction is much better in far east countries when compared to the Gulf and children have more opportunities to grow. This I have found many parents telling and shifting their jobs for the sake of their children.

To make it simple I have been hearing the following comments from most of my friends that they came here to settle their debts, wanted to buy a flat in India, have saved enuf for future and so going back to give better education for their children. Most of them don't prefer to stay back here once their child finishes his / her primary.

Recently I was discussing with one of my friend from my neighboring country. She states that she wants to leave the place she is living in to a better place that gives better education for her son. When I argued that she very well knew about the pros and cons of this place when she came here but she coolly states that she came to save some money and it was ok if her son was here till he finishes his 5th std but would surely leave to india to give better education. I was shocked by her reply.

BUT THIS IS THE MIND SET MOST OF THE PARENTS HAVE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. NOT ALL BUT MANY.

Henceforth lets share our views from the education point of view.
