Cosmetic Brands containing Lead - Please read

Hi Ladies,

Recently a brand called "Red Earth" decreased their prices from $67 to
$9.90. It contained lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The Brands which contain lead are:

1. CHRISTIAN DIOR
2. LANCOME
3. CLINIQUE
4. Y.S.L
5. ESTEE LAUDER
6. SHISEIDO
7. RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
8. CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
9. MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK

(Though not very familiar brands in India)

The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of causing cancer.

After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. lipstick
contained the most amount of lead.

Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer. If
your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
3. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick
contains lead.

Please send this information to all your girlfriends, wives and female
family members.

Dear Meena, Thanks a lot for the information.You 've given a very easy method to test the lead content.As mostly 90% of the gals nowadays use all these cosmetics everyday its a very useful information.

Thanks Meena for this info....good gracious how can we ever trust these big names....as it is they are so expensive and with all the marketing they do about the long lasting lipsticks, all the women and youngsters are after this only..... this is really bad, what is happening to our world i don't know.....just to make money these people use such stuff which is detrimental to the health of a human being!

As Sudha said,these are expensive brands and one tends to think that the more costly the brand,the better the quality.But it has been proved otherwise.

The other side to this thing is that when an expensive brand lowers its price tag,the consumer in general does not think too much about it.The instant thought would be to purchase the product immediately when the price is so low.

Will pass this on to as many people as possible.

While we must all be cautious and use safe cosmetics, we must also not be fooled by all these rumours..most of which are started by rivals of the brands. I have lipstics from 5 of the above brands and myself tested them with the gold ring..nothing turned black...except my hand which turned red n blue instead because of the scratching!!

Hi All,
I have Estee Lauder, Clinique and Lancome. I tried rubbing it with gold ..nothing turned black except that I spent time doing it.. No offense meant...good thing which made me think and read about the possible harmful effects....I went through the sites which has posted information regarding this hoax email.
