So, Usha, at your place, do they bloom/grow throghout the year or only during spring & summer?

Cheers

Hi Krithika

Here it grows throughout the year. Just likes a shady spot.

Dear Usha,

Thanks for the info. So, do we just ask/look for Marjoram (marikozhundhu) in the gardening section of the stores?

Hi Kritika:

Like Rathi says the flowers in the first picture are Hollyhocks. I have seen purple ones in India. The flowers in the second picture are dahlias and now let's see if we can find out what the blue flowers are! The roses are lovely as well.

Beautiful and in full abundance they are - all of them. Thanks for sharing.

Usha:

Oleanders - I have seen these in the lightest of pinks in Bangalore and they make such a pretty picture. Will try and get a picture when I visit Bangalore next.

Cheerful:
Thanks for the pictures of roses. Can't get enough of the flowers!

Hi Sindhu
'
We get a lot of light and dark pink oleander flowers here as well. It is very common and grows well in all seasons.

Hi Usha:

Good to hear that various colours in oleander are available where you live.

I had never seen anything other than the regular dark pink oleander, so imagine my delight in finding dwarf variety (maximum 2 feet height) and different colours in oleander!

Hi rathi and sindhurao,

Thanks for your replies. But as cheerful mentioned, looks like they are "rose of Sharon". Because when i google for images for both "rose of Sharon" and "hollyhock", the flowers seem to differ a bit and my flowers look more like ROS.

Moreover, all these belong to the Hibiscus family and seem to bloom in different colors too !!

Glad that many of you could chip in and help me find the name !! One thing I know for sure now is...it is not "Arali poo" !! :)

Cheers
Krithika

Me too, new to gardening, so need confirmation from our garden specialists AC and Usha,

Allium looks wonderful, so do Usha's Arali. Do you know if they grow in zone 5?

I have my first rose pictures to share with you all.
