That's Arabian jasmine. the season for Arabian jasmine is from May through Sept. Did you know, we get several varities of jasmine here? Arabian , pink jasmine ( mullai), star jasmine ( looks like magizhampoo),and adukku jasmine. The pink jasmine blooms evey year exactly between 2nd week to 4th week in march. Right now, the Arabian and adukku are in bloom. This is the reward for bearing with the summer heat in Az! The flowers that you are puzzled about rather resemble hibiscus ( shoe flower). I do not worry about any zone parameters, Krithika. I mostly start seeds inside and when it is safe to plant out, I do that. I directly plant native plants either in spring or early fall.

It is neither a big garden nor farm, but every little space is well utilized, thanks to our yardhelper. This is after several trials and mistakes over the years. Let me know when you solve the mystery of the flowers!

Probably the most important consideration in determining what garden and landscape plants you can grow in your garden is whether or not they will survive the climate in your zone area. If you buy a plant, it will be labeled with the Zone - so you know if it will grow in your area. I grow so many assorted plants that I only invest if it will grow in my zone Like Hibiscus is annual in my zone8. It will not survive winter even with keeping it indoors during winter Just wanted to pass this info.. You dont have to follow if you dont want to.. I think the flower in first picture stongly resembles arali though the plant does not. Do you remember where from you got the plant because that will help explain. Do keep us posted:) |

| AC, Thanks for the explanation about the Zone area. As for the flower in the first picture, the plant was already there when we bought the home. We didn't actually plant it..so no idea about that. That's why I wanted to find out the name. As I mentioned before, these flowers bloom every summer, it's leaves sprout in spring...this happens every year. Will look out the specifications about zone, the next time we go to buy other plants. Thanks AC ! Cheers Krithika Quote:
