Hi All, I am seriously interested in planting Nandiyavattai plant/tree in my garden. I live in Bay Area, CA. Would like to know if anyone can guide me on where to buy it and what is the name of the plant. Your help is greatly appreciated. It is really fun to read the posts from ladies across the world. Thanks to Indusladies moderators.
I think you have to import these nandiyavattai flowers plants from asia, because you couldn't find anything like this in USA or CA.
Tabernaemontana divaricata (From: Flora of Tamil Nadu, Vol II, 1987) Hardiness: USDA Zones 9 - 11. This tropical shrub will stand brief periods of freezing. Crepe jasmine does grow in Tallahassee and can endure temperatures in the high 20's F (-2° C) without sustaining damage. It freezes back every year but returns in the spring. In Zone 8 garden crepe jasmine grows to only about 3 ft (1 m) in a season, but it does bloom. (Credit) Buy from Amazon.
Thanks a lot for your response! Then I am not sure if it may grow well in this weather also. The nursery here told me that they have similar one in Jasmine family, I was trying to see if anyone knows about this in USA.
[h=2]I think gardenia flower is called as Nandiyavattai Flower in USA.[/h]Is this the one? Plant Care Guides :: National Gardening Association you will get it from lowes, home depot plant section.
See: USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map Enter your zip code and check "Hardiness Zone". That should tell you whether it will grow there or not. See here for some detail on using these maps.
