Default curry plant

Namaste
I am new here.I am very intersted in gardening and i have a few plants. My question is about my curry plant. It is a sapling from my previous plant, which died somehow.I keep the plant outside in my patio. This plant grows near the very rim of the pot.I replanted it in the same pot itself. But now i see that the leaves are drooping.I have also noticed some small insect like things in the soil.I have put eggshells, teabags and some leaves there. This plant had some spider mite attack which i took care of using soap solution and spraying water. Also the some of the leaves have a slight browing. This is the only plant i have now and i am very fond of curry leaves.Could you please suggest some ways to save my plant and help it to grow healthy.

Hi mjohney:

Did you wash the pot before repotting? That is the only suggestion I can think of, since you have tried quite a few things.

When you wash the pot, use bleach solution which will sterilize the pot and later when you pot the plant do not use the same soil.

Curry leaf plant sometimes can be difficult to grow. Main problems are mealy bugs and spider mites. You just need patience with it. Give your plant some more time and then if you think it is still not doing well, try my suggestion.

Hope your plant gets better and grows well again.

Dear mjohney
I grow a few curry plants. I have never added anything to the plant like eggshells, leaves etc. Not even buttermilk which they add in India because the American -grown ones do not seem to do well with adding buttermilk. You may add a little ironite and depp water once in two to three weeks. This will help with the yellowing of the leaves. Also check your watering. If you water too much or too often, they get water burn in the summer.
Good luck!

Thanks Usha.I have never considered deep watering or used ironite.I usually put miracle grow sticks in the plant pot or use miracle grow liquid for plants except rose.I have searched ironite and found that walmart sells it.I will give it a try.How do you deep water plant in a pot.I have heard about using hose and deep watering. But i live in an apartment and all my plants are in pots.Is there a way to do this for plants in containers?Should i remove the eggshell etc and repot in a new one?My plant is a little more droopy today.I hope i can save it.
Regards
mj

Hi Mjohney

Yea, remove all the eggshells etc. Repotting and adding some fresh soil will help. Add a little ironite, may be 1 tsp around the roots at least two inches away from the stem and deep water till water starts coming out of the holes ion the bottom.Same way water on alternate days or may be once in two days, if the topsoil is not too dry.
Will appreciate updates on your plant.
