hi AC & Sindhu
I love to grow plants especially the scented plants. At present I have jasmine plants.
When I saw ur posts about hyacinth I googled for it.They r nice & as u said the room will be pleasant & there by my interest increased.
Can u clear my doubt,Among the blue, pink, white hyacinths which one will be good.

Today when I went to home depot, they r selling 5/8 small plants for $3.I am confused in selecting the color.Atlast I didn't buy them. Can I get those bulbs as seeds in walmart?
I can't go outside alone. So it's hard to ask my husband everytime to come for me,search & returning without buying anything. So can u suggest the best place to buy.
regards

Hi, you are getting a good deal in Home Depot. I had brought hyacinth from Gaints during early spring, and they were about 3$ for one plant. So, you can buy from Home Depot. Even I have seen these in Lowes and K-Mart with comparable price.
About colours, every colour is beautiful and the fragrance is all the same for all colour....I had brought Pink and white ones. Also there was blue/yellow ones too.
I feel anything contrasting to the green leaves looks gr8......all of them are so adorable that its not worth thinking abt colors......
Regards.

Hi,
You could have gone to KMart, they sell the hyacinth a little cheap price.
And one more thing, don't buy hyacinth who has started blooming, because once they bloom, the flowers will stay in the plant for utmost 10 days and then they will dry off and you have to cut the stalk holding flower. Then you have to let the foliage dry by its own. As it is an annual plant, it will bloom next year but the flower and stalk will be small than this years........
take care.
For these reasons, I prefer perennials (even though they are green mostly through out the year and they never demand much care).

Hi Meeta:

Your pink and white hyacinths look beautiful. The flower heads become so heavy in full bloom that they need support. I had to tie strings to avoid breaking the flower stems!

Thanks for sharing.

Sindhu
