For nutrients i use organic fertilizer but I read somewhere that this is due to some bacteria & some spray or medicine I dont rememer was there for this if u can help abt that or any body else I will appreciate.

What you need to do is sprinkle handful of seeds in a pot with good soil.. Mals coming to your question about bugs etc., the attached pdf file will give you all the answers. I used the packing boxes to grow spinach and rotting boxes is not a concern because:

1. spinach is harvested very fast i.e within 1.5 months and

2. I place the container on my deck and not inside my home. And as I understand you will be doing so on your balcony, not inside.

As for the soil, the local nursery people will be better able to give you suggestions.
