Hi Friends,
I would like to grow 'dania' (kothamalli) plant in my garden. I tried crushing the dania seeds and sowed. I took some handful of seeds. It didn't come out well. Could you please guide me? I tried methi seeds also. While watering, most of the seeds start floating out. What to do? Thanks a lot in advance.

hi Hema,
first make sure u have good quality soil. then for dhania dont crush them.
just sow them leaving some space in between. then cover with soil. keep watering daily. after few weeks u will see leaves coming out. it will not look like a coriander leaf first. leaves will be long and then after a few days u can see the shape changing into orginal coriander like the once we get from shop.
next methi, soak seeds overnight and next day wrap it in a damp cloth and leave for few hours it will sprout. now sow it in a pot covered 3/4 th with soil and then cover with soil. water them regularly and it will start sprouting in few weeks.

Just one more suggestion..please do not over water these plants...you just have to sprinkle water on the plants..do not pour water or over water them...

Oh magicworld..I tried methi as per ur instruction and I got them sprouting in no time

I tried as per ur instructions i got methi leaves but the coriander has not come . is any body succesful in growing it ?

Usually a light prorous soil will be a better one for dhania seeds. the use of compost is essential..

The seeds need to be opened up., some people use new or old slippers to scrape the seeds on floor or hard surface.

In Hyderabad , we get split seeds. yeild is also satisfactory.
