Thanks for the informative post on Akshaya Thruthiyai, the significancce of the word Akshayam and the picture of Mahalakshmi. Everything in the post was new to me. Like all our fellow ILites, I too liked the part where you extended on the benefits of doing charity, helping physically challenged people and helping poor students' education best. Thanks for bringing out such lost significances that really matter.

It would be really nice if the Jewellery shops start advertising that the wealth will multiply manyfold if people buy jewellery on this day and gift it to the needy people. This makes me remember the gifting of pachai pudavai a few years back....

Mrs.C,

I just read your post on Akshaya Truthiyai. Wonderful explanation as well.

It is good to buy gold, clothes or the like. But like you mentioned, it would be good if we could do some charity as well and share with the less fortunate.

Also read your post on Gita. Very educative and informative as usual.

Dear Gayathri,
Thanks for the feedback.
It is sad that the focus of such auspicious days are shifted from charity to gold-shopping !
Now the lates is lighting lamps in the entrance for mangalya balam or some such thing - I don't even remember !
Love,
Chithra.

Love,
Chithra.

Dear Chitra,
Was an informative post but had no idea that such a day ever existed. I do know the story of kuchela but did not know there was a connection indeed. You said it right that helping the needy and underprivileged is more important than buying gold. I am not sure if it was a coincidence I just came back from A's school where they held a memorial service for all the victims of this tragic college event and it did feel good after reading your post that this was held today. Sorry I think I am completely off track.

Love,

Mrs. C,
Thanks for one more piece of knowledge to keep my grey cells active. I didn't know the background for the celebration & thought it was just some marketing strategy.
