Yes, I too feel, God has given us an indication that we are going to be showered with His blessings this year.
Well, Sri, can't help mentioning, that as senior citizens , we find the dawn of new year a time for introspection. The younger generation will look forward to it with expectation ! - not that you & I are old. we are "marching backward in time", as you rightly said.

It was an amazing collection of slokas and info for Sarvajith Puthandu. As usual, you took me back memory lane. Every New Year we used to celebrate in Swamimalai back in childhood, and I remember my brother and I reading out the various year names for the steps and climbing up to see our Dear Lord Swaminathan and chanting "Paadi Madi Nadi".

Just set up the Vishu Kani in the Puja Room and logged to IL.

It is customary to keep, a mirror, rice, tur dhal, yellow cucumber with a necklace, gold, silve, as many fruits & vegetables, as one can get !
Mirror doubles up whatever we keep& gives us a bountiful look in the morning. This is called Vishukani.
The red fruit is water melon - I kept pieces of it to add colour ! Do we not need colour in our life ??!!

Excellent, Mrs.C....two eyes are not enough to see both vishukani & yr kolam.

NOw, it is bed time and before going, saw yr vishukani and in the morning, will see our home vishukani!!! Only ILites gets this opportunity, isnt it??

I just have just kept everything ready for Vishukani for tomorrow. Does it vary from each family Chitra since we also keep gold ornaments,vilaku etc. Just curious?
