Default Puja on empty stomach

What is the significance of performing puja on an empty stomach??? I am talking about our daily puja at home. Now that sravana masam has started.....ppl say its a very auspicious month and doing pooja on empty stomach is conisdered good. Is it true??? Changing our routine time table every sravana masam is kind of difficult. I think having breakfast and then bathing and doing puja does not do any harm coz God never wants us to suffer for him.

But how do I justify this point to ppl who are not willing to listen?? Is there anything in Gita or any other hindu text which justifies my thought???

I have a friend who is spoiling her health because of this custom...so I want to help her out. Please suggest something.

regards,
Saranya.

It is being followed by elders so it is carried on. I have seen my dad's sister and mother following this rituals but I do not have any clue since I am married to a catholic I cannot help you. But am sure someone will help you to help your friend.

Hi Saranya

There is no harm in eating your breakfast and doing pooja .Those days people said you cannot eat before pooja so that you don't have to take bathroom breaks .I do all my poojas after eating a heavy breakfast and keep the satham and paruppu for maha neivedyam . no harm in in it .but My MIL usually drinks only liquid diets before pooja .but I cannot do that since I cannot have tea/coffee and I never avoid my breakfast .

SO please you can eat a good breakfast and do pooja without the growling stomach or being tired
