Hey Deepshika.... I'm with you!

But last year I visited a friends house & her mom had the an awesome rangoli tip for people like us.

Here is how to do:
1. Spray paint the ribbon style pasta in gold or silver. Allow to dry.
2. Mix holi colours with desicated coconut.
3. Use maida mixed with water to apply to the floor with the design in mind. & stick the pastas & fill in with the coloured desicated coconut.
4. Add some beads for added effect... (See the attached picture to get a beter idea.) aunty used white & golden ones.

PS: I'm going to give it a try this year. Already working on the pastas

Let me know what you think of it!

For Rangoli colors, you can get colored sand and use it. You can get them in art and craft stores like Michael's.

Wow Ani those are awesome pics you posted, and great idea about the pasta!! I want to do that one but where to get gold and silver spray paint from? Will michaels or walmart have it?
Also about the second rangoli, I know rangoli is made by joining dots , do you girls make it like that? How to achieve the symettry as we see in the pics, I always end up making unsymmetrical.
Thanks for sharing ladies, please keep them coming.

Hey Deepa,

Glad to know that everyone is happy I shared this info

Spray paints are easily available in supermarkets. Whether you'll get it in Micheals or not, I won't be able to say as I'm not based in US. But I guess if it's a maega mart, you should be able to get it. I'm sure the sales persons will be able to help you out. Or you could try out in places where they sell building materials. It's easier to get them there, as they have more colour options - in case you want your base colours different.

Let me know - & do share your work.

Hey Deepa,

Last year I used the scale to get my lines straight.

This time I intend to do the same, if needed

But I think my freehand design has improved. I hope my freehand "straight" line is still straight enough to look straight!
