Default You are right, Kamla !

These are all developments in the religious field, in recent times, if I can say so. Many such customs are renewed "vigorously", seeing the faith people have in following tradition.
You light, chant the mantra & put it off, for security reasons.
Thankyou, you are forever with me, Kamla, I can't thank you enough.
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default Shahana, my dear friend !

Let me explain the connection between Deepavali & Yaman.
Yamuna Devi & Yaman are children of Suryan. Yamuna Devi once invited Suryan
to visit her house. Yaman took many gifts & went to her house. She hosted him very happily. This is Yama Dvitheeya - Bhai-dhooj, in the North. This strengthens the bond between brother & sister.

For another legend go to

Second para.

What picture do I send for Deepavali, Seena, tell me ?
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default Hi

Hi C maam,

You're right this is my first time in this thread. Thanks for the info and guidance but it so sad that I'll not be able to do anything this year. My chinna mamanar passed away Wed. early morning. Anu & I were looking forward to Deepavali this year with all the bakshanams, kolams and pooja and what not. She was to sing on that day at a known person's house. They perform Lakshmi pooja every year. Now I've to think of something to keep us busy on that day. But I'll be getting yummy bakshanams from my vadhyar. He promised to send me jangiri, badhusha, karasevu, mixture, m. pak and do not know the rest. Will let you know. Think of me when you make the bakshanams and send me a telepathic msg pls.

Take care.

Default vls, did you get all my telepathic messages yesterday ?

It is sad that you cannot celebrate deepavali, the way you had planned.
Anyway, arrival of the goodies will constitute half the deepavali & so it is not too bad at all !
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Default My dear Surya !

Now T Nadu is full of religious magazines which explain to us, so many customs which had "vanished" over the years. It is good that a
"renaissance" is taking place !
Love & regards,
Chithra.
