Try raw peanuts.ccook them in pressure cooker and make just like any other sundal.
Try brown gram ,green dry peas,chowri and chick peas.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Unfortunately, I didnt' see them before keeping the golu. I did the padis with cartons and shoe boxes. I used two sets of sheets on top and so they came out neat and clean.

Navratri is fast approaching and my mind just storms with so many ideas and confusions as to what gifts would be ideal to gift with..

I have been displaying golu ever since my marriage for the past 4 years and every year I would like to get newer ideas on gifts.

I read Chitra Mam(i)'s suggestions on navratri too and would like to hear more from all Ilites..

Friends share your suggestions and lets bring the best for Golu-our culture and tradition..

What gifts would be ideal with usual thamboolam a ganesha or laughing buddha or ambal idol or purse or kumkum bela or purse or vaasthu items or plates or trays or the "revolving" blouse bits.
