Shantha, these are called "pattadagombe/pattadabombe" in kannada and are very traditional. You will not get them in places like cauvery emporium. If you are going to MVM, there is a shop on firstfloor (on top of grandhige angadi)....near where they sell heaps of kumkum (diagonally across asha sweets?? in 8th cross), I forget the name of the shop...he might have traditional ones or your best bet would be avenue road - your best bet would be that street (8th and sampige). Hope this helps. And thanks for posting your dolls...gives us an idea if we want to redecorate our dolls.

Thanks you one and all for your valuable reply.
I found the vig, hair design at malleswaram 10th cross,bangalore.
and lot of dress collections for marapachi too..
most of the shops in malleswaram are selling and they have put it in display in platform itself, so it is useful to find it.
They have designed and dressed marapachi also ( looks like meenu's attachment, thanks meena)

And you can also customize by buying dresses and chains too. From my experience im telling its better to take your marapachi to get the exact dress size.
coz i found hair design is not suits for my doll since doll is small one.

As per shop keepers we can expect golu dolls after 25th.

Dear Meena,

You will get lots and lots of dolls in malleswaram around the 1st week of october. Also try Jayanagar 4th block, inside the complex. tehre are few shops who sell these items.
My mother has been collecting dolls for the last 40 years, and all of them are bought at Malleswaram. We have sets like cricket, kalyanam, tennis, desert, etc. all kinds of sets are there. She would usually go on the vijayadashami day or the next day and get it. it will be damn cheap if we buy around that time. we would pack them separately and will keep them as new set for the next year.

You can get some jewels and decorate with garlands.I have attached the picture of my marapachi which was given by my parents as seer.I think it is bought in bangalore.It is readymade one.Hope it may give you some idea.

I dontknow the availablity at Bangalore. But at Chennai, the hair only is available at Mylapore. I got the hair, pasted at the marapahhi and done the decoration like this. have a look. viji

Even i had done one like this for an elderly lady long time ago for her golu but i have only a small one.planning to buy a big one next year.
