Proverbial Tamil Proverbs - Part 14

இந்த வாரம் "கி", "கீ"யில் தொடங்கும் பழமொழிகளைப் பார்ப்போம்.

1 - கிட்ட உறவு முட்டப் பகை
The nearer you go, the greater the enemity

2 - கிட்டினால் ராமா, கோவிந்தா; கிட்டவிட்டால் ஒன்றும் இல்லை
If you get it well & good; otherwise no problem

3 - கிடக்கிறது எல்லாம் கிடக்கட்டும்; கிழவியைத் தூக்கி மணையிலே வை
Of all things waiting, doing the least important first

4 - கிடக்கிறது குட்டிச்சுவர்; கனவு காண்கிறது மச்சுவீடு
Dreams should match your means

5 - கிடந்த பசியைக் கிள்ளிக் கிளப்பினானாம்
Increasing one's own hunger by pinching the stomach

6 - கிண்டிவிட்டு வேடிக்கை பார்க்கிறது
Purposely teasing somebody

7 - கிணற்றில் இருக்கும் ஆமைபோல் இருப்பவனுக்கு உலகம் தெரியுமோ ?
One who is not aware of the ways of the world

8 - கிணற்றுத் தண்ணீரை வெள்ளமா கொண்டு போகும்?
Floods cannot affect well water.

9 - கிணற்று ஆழத்தைக் கண்டாலும் காணலாம்; நெஞ்சு ஆழத்தைக் காணமுடியுமா?
You can measure the depth of the well, but never of the heart.

10 - கிணறு இறைக்க இறைக்க சுரக்கும்
Cleaning a well regulrly, increases water supply

11 - கிழவன் தான் நரை; கிழவன் கொடுத்த பணமுமா நரை ?
Money has its own value, whoever gives it.

12 - கிள்ளி எடுக்க சதை இல்லை; பேரு தொந்தியா பிள்ளை
Name & appearance are mismatched

13 - கிளிபோலப் பெண்டாட்டி இருந்தாலும் குரங்கு போலக் கூத்தியாள் வேணும் !
Inspite of a pretty looking wife, the man still needs a concubine!

14 - கிளியைப் போல பேச்சும், மயிலைப் போல நடையும்
Talk like a parrot & walk like a peacock

15 - கிளியை வளர்த்து குரங்குகையில் கொடுத்தது போல
Needs no explanation

16 - கீரை நல்லதானால் கழுவின தண்ணீரே போறாதா?
Spinac of good quality will cook in its own water.

17 - கீர்த்தி பெற்றும் கிலேசம் என்ன ?
Why worry when you are so famous?

18 - கீழ் அகத்து மன்னி குளித்தால் கிழக்கு வெளுக்கும்
As soon as the corner house lady bahes, the dawn will break.

19 - கீறி ஆற்றினால் புண் ஆறும்
If you cut a wound, it will heal fast

20 - கீழ்க்காது மூளி, மேல்காது மூளி; சண்டைக்கு ரணபத்ரகாளி
A woman of no means, but a fightercock

பாம்பின் கால் பாம்பறியும்.

Sorry Chitra, i missed it out this week ....but the first one is so apt today, maybe i was destined to read it today only....couple ofdays ago, i would have raedit only as a pazhamozhi, but something very bad, upsetting similar to this happened which has left me so shken, something like the storm that hit u , that i truly believe that these proverbs are so true and are based on life's experiences.....
Sorry i went to deep, but i just read the first one and my thoughts are far away now.....but some of the others were also so true....and your Paam bin kaal paambu ariyum, was also apt!

Sorry to intrude between you and chitvish madam. But I couldn't help getting concerned because just yesterday, you were joyfully exchanging notes about movies with me and suddenly this gloomy mood. Whatever the reason, I am sorry for you and will send up my share of prayers that you may soon come out of the sadness and bask in sunshine again.

Your F B is pensive & you have given the reason yourself.
Please gather all your strength & go ahead - time is the only healer for any emotional wound. As I always, say bless the person, if anyone has hurt you. Rest assured, it is not difficult at all & you feel a lot light at heart.

I really need some prayers for peace of mind.....dont worry, i seemed to have gathered enough strength from your concerns, and do have a family and some close friends who are helping....and yes I have been saying GOD BLESS YOU many times to the person who has supposedly caused this bad period in my life.....but like u both have rightly said, it will pass and anyway i feel this is for good only and the experience will leave me a more matured person, i am sure.
Sorry ladies, dont want to disturb you all...but Chitra's proverbs were so apt that i poured my feelings and of course isnt this IL more than a family...and with such lovely friends around me, will i be in gloom for long!
I am already feeling better, ladies.... thanks for asking!
