| | Proverbial Tamil Proverbs - Part 4
Dear All,
This week we shall go on to "ஈ".
I could not get more than 15 in that category. So I am supplementing a few others, the last being the most naughty !
Can a mere fly topple a mountain ?
Praise the Lord, greet the king.

A man working in (here agriculture) two places and a man with two wives can never prosper in life.
Making a mountain out of a molehill

If the " easals" appear, they foretell rain
A spear will reach only to a certain distance - but money will reach even underground
Can a fly match an elephant ?
The poison of a fly isin its head; for a scorpion in its fang (Kodukku)
As the Lord is, so the devotee is.
When there is a lightning on the northeastern side, even the bullock is scared
One should never incur the curse of a devotee of the Lord!
A boy is not supposed to cry & a girl, to laugh. ( a silly proverb, no doubt !)
Is a woman inferior to a man ? ( no no, never never!)
Leaving his mother naked, he is doing "godhanam" (offering cows for charity) everyday!

| | Good One's, as usual !
Dear Chitra,
Good Collections of Proverb this time too, In this collection, some of them I have already heard and the remaining were straight-forward to understand.
No. 19 reminds me of another saying, "Veetla Eli, Velila Puli" !
No. 11 - I have done this many times during college days, while copying assignments and homeworks from friends !
I enjoyed reading Proverb 4 and 5.
Love,
Preethi

| | Your Boni is lucky, so far, my dear Preethi !
Thankyou for the prompt F B.
Well, I have never done " copying" - I now think, my conscience was unnecessarily working overtime, when I was young !!
Love & regards,
Chithra.
16 is also said as follows:

I can never thank you enough, you know why !
19 is very true - how can you & I disagree? Sometimes, they rule, we always overrule - ha ha ha !
I have already inferred from your posts that you are not at all a 3 proverb person !
Thankyou for the F b.
Love & refards,
Chithra.

Dear Chitra,
As usual, a good set of proverbs....i especially enjoyed your vehement denials in 16 and 17, within brackets.....shows how much you are enjoying penning them or should i say posting them.
And 20th one is not naughthy, i feel it is closer to reality! naturally no harm in calling the "other woman" as a m....y!

I enjoy penning them all. But quite a few, I don't agree with !
16 & 17, I don't agree with at all - far from it !
I cannot thank you enough for your participation, Sudha !
Love & regards,
Chithra.
