Proverbial Tamil Proverbs. - Part 1

I did'nt even dream, this thread will "take off" so well & our Seena Kujnu will hit the ceiling !

My mother comes from Trivandrum. So I am familiar with a few phrases !

I am getting lost...what does "Kunjea" mean ? it's malayalam is it ?

Latha, your last line in your reply elicited laughter in me and made me go back to my college days...When in college, we praise any of our friend and they feel as though they are in the cloud, then we all would look skyward and call her name and say "Va Va Va", meaning methanthathu pothum bhoomi ku va nu !

I am now trying to imagine Seena near the ceiling !

Hmmm...now that I understood the meaning of what Chitra meant..Tell me the truth, you're not able to get down or you don't want to get down from the ceiling ?

I am ready to say "Seena, Va Va Va", but will it have any effect ??? I wonder ...

True Seena, We are all infants only .......Though Nobody addressed me Kunjea, Since you say we can consider ourselves infants, I will also come and join you at the ceiling !! What say dear ?

as usual missed out on this thread i guess....dont know whats happening, only when i am not around things get HOT here!
Anway good start on tamil proverbs...like Kamala, i amnot a good one to remember proverbs and i can hardly quote them at the drop of a hat, as against my Maduarai athukaarar....and i do have difficulties comprehending them also at times....now i aall set to take him on that....hopefully i will quote the right one and in the right way.....kulurpudipannina , chetthen!

Will start at the beginning now.....me too did not follow some....will go through them slowly and then get back to you. But really enjyed reading all the psots here and all the proverbs ...

provided he has the patience ! He will know everything, I am sure !
