Any suggestions please? - H4/divorce related issue

Hi there,
I am Vandana Desai. This is my first post to IL. I am not sure this is the right forum to bring up this issue. I have received this email as a forward and want it to reach a wider audience.
Can anyone suggest any social organizations who might be willing to take up her cause?

Hi All

One of my close friends is here on H4 in Chicago.
She got married in december 2007 and has been here for the past 7-8
months only

Now her husband has applied for divorce, moved out and stopped monetary
support to her.
After august, she doesnt have a place to stay also.

She is unable to get a opinion from lawyers since she is not able to
afford the lawyer fees.

The marriage was done in India.
So she wants to go back to India for the divorce, but does not know if
she can legally go back to India?
She wants to contest. If she goes to India, will she be treated as
absconding and the divorce be granted here?
If the divorce does happen here, is it valid in India?

Do any of you know social service organizations that could help her case?
Offer legal opinion considering she in on H4?

I am also relatively new here and dont have that many contacts..
Will greatly appreciate any inputs you can offer.
