Just wanted to add few more:

In my childhood, when I used to wait for my school bus, my neighbours used to ask "School bus vannille" Meaning has'nt the school bus arrived yet?

Yes it came and went, I just thought I will drive to school! :)

Now when we visit India from US, some neighbours who see us for the first time say "Ivide undayirunnu alle??" Meaning "so you are here??"
