Hi alps
keep your feet in salt warm water for 5 minutes every day, this will help.
In case you have a foot spa put warm water into it with salt and keep it for 5 minutes within 2 days you will start feeling good.

Hi Alpers,
I had heel pain a while ago. The doctor ordered xray and found there was a small heel spur. I do not walk barefoot inside on the tile anymore. I also wore z-coil shoes that have special springs on the bottom when ever went on long walks. It seems to have subsided. May be you should talk to your general practice doc or even a podiatrist.
Hope this helps!

I'm also suffering from heel spur due to flat foot. Whenever I loose weight my pain subsides, otherwise it is back and I'm on medication. Better go to a podiatrist who is specialized in foot and ankle.

Manu:
There is a USA trained podiatrist up in Delhi that could give you orthotics...foot supports for inside your shoes. If you have heel spurs the treatment for that is different from arch pain...for that you ice the heel twice daily for 20 mins each time. A friend of mine cured his severe heel spurs with this method. Going barefoot is bad when you are having foot problems. Do you have any place in Hyderabad to get Birkenstock type sandals?

I was also suffering with this heel pain. I started observing patterns of its occurances. I notice it occured most often on weekend. Then I realized that on weekends when I go out, I wear shoes. This, even though fits me comfortably and snugly, and though not tight, it was causing the discomfort. I used floaters last weekend, just to see the effect. And true enough, there was no pain at all.
Maybe this could be a silly explanation, but do observe patterns, then we might find some interesting possiblity like this.

I also have severe heel pain from heel spurs. There are medications, but external methods are also effective.

Cut down calcium (this works wonders for me, pain subsides fast)

Do not walk barefoot on tiled floor; this actually causes the inflamation of the fibres inside the heel causing pain. You can get shoes/slippers made specially on the prescription of your podarist or orthopedic. These might have softer soles, as in my case.

Alternate hot and cold foot baths are recommended. Dip feet in hot water (bearable heat and a bit higher). Then remove and dip in water to which ice cubes have been added. Do this, maintaining temperature of both dips. Very effective.

I am told weight does not affect heel spurs.
