| | Finest Posts - June 2009 Winner! Dear Friends, I was looking forward to this month's announcement of the Finest Post with pleasure ....Why you may ask...Because, our FP team was caught in a dilemma a couple of times in the previous months for this writer's post posed a stiff competition for the winning accolade. This time around, there were no doubts in our minds, no cross-fires took place while making or taking the final decision ! This writer with her neat little post was the sure winner. Yes, the winner is Padma Srinivasan's "Caught in the cross-fire"! Congratulations dear Padma...You have just been promoted as the FP winner of the Month !!!! Ironically, though your post "I've been promoted!" was also nominated, you got the promotion for your other nominated post!! I am sure all our ILites will agree that Padma has found her special niche in the annals of our IL. Her posts are almost always brief and pleasant. She brings color to her posts literally and life! ( So did I Padma, inspired by your colorful contributions, made this announcement colorful!! ) 'Caught in a cross fire ' brings to life the emotions of a woman caught in her very mundane daily life. Almost every woman can at once relate to the situation and emotions portrayed there in. Besides, it is stylishly written with the situation scenes going back and forth. She has the talent to convey a lot of story in few brief lines, a special talent in itself. A good editor, our Padma! Do enjoy your win Padma and keep writing those lively and entertaining stories for us. Your passion to write is very obvious going by the number of interesting posts you bring to us at regular intervals. They all are a joy to read. Thank you for the same:) Here is the link to Padma Srinivasan's winning post : http://www.indusladies.com/forums/snippets-of-life-non-fiction/61417-caught-in-the-cross-fire.html#post726222 Here is the link to the gift picture Finest Posts - June 2009 Winner!

| | Re: Finest Posts - June 2009 Winner! Dear friends,
Looks like you were all very busy or otherwise engaged? Our June nomination thread was looking forlorn and lost! I don't know about you, but we at FP forum missed all of you terribly! Hope you will not repeat this and will make our July thread a happening place. It is not enough if you enjoy the summer joy by yourself, please come to us and spread the warmth and festivities of the summer. Please share with us the posts and thoughts that you enjoyed best in IL!:)
On the other hand, though very few, we did have the absolute gems nominated for the month of June. I must say that somewhat compensated the absence of the rest. I guess it was a very wise person indeed who said that quality is what counts and not the quantity!!
Padma Srinivasan was our reigning queen with two out of the four nominated posts to her credit. But, she was given a stiff competition by Jpatma's rollicking " I almost thought iam tiger woods", after reading which 'I almost thought' I'd hurt my tummy laughing! Jpatma besides being a talented writer showed what a fine sense of humor she has with this account of her goalfing skills.
We deeply regret that we could not consider Nilaraseegan's Tamil works for our nomination. Surely, the loss is ours. We understand that his works are excellent and a treat to read. Hopefully his works will be translated into English when all of us can have the pleasure of reading them. Until such times, we have to bear with this loss.
So ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your participation and here is hoping that you will patronize our FP forum and keep it rocking.
L, Kamla

| | Re: Finest Posts - June 2009 Winner! Dear Kamla and Soaring Spirit, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I am quite speechless on reading all the wonderful things you have written... the colourful announcement takes my breath away! I am literally on a high and still wondering if I merit them... and I must ensure they do not go to my head! I must thank Malathy and Jey for coming up with a winner, the IndusLadies Forum, and the ILites/readers for encouraging me by writing fbs to my posts... I did harbour aspirations of expressing myself by writing articles prior to joining IL but never dared to and, truth to tell, did not have a platform either... I will certainly cherish this win, my first ever, and... I will most definitely continue to write...ILites, please bear with me! Thanks once again for making my day, Kamla and SS... Jai Bhavani Maa! Love, Padma |

Dear Padma,
Congratulations or should I say it in your dialect, 'felicititons!! You have an amazing yet homely manner of picking topics that are so familiar to most women. And then keying them with your heart and brain. What I appreciate most is that you say what you want to say, and then stop. Very few writers can convey their thoughts without a parallel eye on increasing the word count. I loved this winner, it gently touches on the detachement that we all need to acquire through practise. I can believe Kamla when she says that the FP team had no issues choosing the winner in June.
Ma belle, whatever you write is a winner!
Kamla and SS- Always a pleasure reading your posts on opening the nominations and declaring winners!

Padma,
You did it..You weave magic with your words..and have caught many ilites, in the web of those words, no wonder many can relate to many of the topics you so lovingly weave, be it crossfire or history repeats..
Lots of hugs
