| | Finest Post - April 2009 Winner! Many years ago, a young man was pushed into a cul-de-sac. To walk back on the road he just traversed would be beating the purpose and a waste of all the sweat and toil he spent to reach where he was. But to gate crash into the forbidden ground was something he was not going to do. We are lucky that he walked back bravely for today we are enjoying the fruits of wisdom he gained by that walk. Here we are to felicitate the same wisdom, integrity and honesty by honoring his post: Dangerous Predicament by Lakshiminarayan as the winner of April's Finest Post! This piece is one more solid proof that honesty and integrity pays off in the end. It also serves as a reference point for anyone driven towards a similar dilemma in life. Lakshminarayan has described this incident in his own inimitable style and every reader will feel the fear and tension that he goes through facing the dilemma that he unwittingly slipped into. Everyone who reads this piece are sure to feel the racing of the heartbeat and dizziness of the worried young man who faces his daunting boss with unwavering belief in the virtue of honesty. Really commendable. A very lucidly written and a touching anecdote. LN sir, as he is fondly known in our community, has been enthralling us with his writings and has surely managed to make a mark in IL inspite of his very recent entry. This task must have been doubly difficult for him what with the stiff competition served to him by his very own illustrious writer wife Mithila Kannan! Congratulations LNsir ! We hope to read many more wonderful letters from you. Here is the link to the post: Dangerous predicament Click here for the gift picture

| | Re: Finest Post - April 2009 Winner! Dear Cheeniya sir,
May be there is a proverb that I am not aware of! Do they say that one eminent writer recognizes the other??! You seem to be quick to pick the gems that appear in IL and bring it to us in FP. We are for ever obliged to you for the good deed.
Looks like you have made a habit of bringing the winning posts to IL. Is it possible that you love the IL T-shirts way too much?! Last month, my partner SS requested for a photo of yours in the T and I repeat it this month! High time we see our Cheenssaar in his IL Ts!!
Congratulations again for spotting the winner and thank you for the same.
L, Kamla

| | Re: Finest Post - April 2009 Winner! Dearest friends,
April seems to have whizzed past us! It could be because I was away on a short vacation. It seemed like most of us in IL also were on vacation?! Else, how can we have only fourteen nominations this month in total ??! Either that or we have become highly selective?!
I say so because every nomination this month was a sure gem.
The very first nomination itself was a lesson of sorts and showed how one can instill the value of money and choice at a very young age from the post penned by Sundarusha. Further, posts by PadmaSrinivas and Devika Menon left us wanting as we probed into the young children's innocent world. In that world, there was no pretense nor differentiation. Did we lose something valuable growing up?!
Devika once again presented a sort of answer to this musing in her Kalyug Nursery Rhymes which sent us into shudders!! Thanks to Prijan and Mithila Kannan, the humorous take on life's gullibility had a lighter tone and Hope once again brightened the heart.
Even as Kashvya was questioning their presence in IL, our gentlemen Bhikubhai, Ojaantrik dada and LNsir justified their presence here with their very meaningful posts on Truth and Life and how to deal with it.
Amongst all this philosophical thinking, we ILites never forget what we are..the functioning home maker! To help us out, there is always a Jithiks leading us to the right products and grocers with her thoughtful thread. Besides, Padma did not forget to greet all of us for Vishu in April thus coloring the month golden:)
Needless to say, we ILites also come forward with heart and concern as did our own SoaringSpirit, my charming partner, with her soothing words to soar the spirits of any troubled ILite. I really am at loss to comprehend how she manages such long winding posts with her hectic schedules!!
All in all, we do keep a great company here! To make sure that it is so, one just needs to take a peep into our FP forums!
Thanks to all of you for making this forum a warm place to be in.
L, Kamla...for FP Team.

Dear LN Sir,
Please accept my hearty congratulations on this singular honour. I know the award-winning post has already captured all our hearts and we have given all our love and affection as the first award.
Yet to win an award from these two ladies, Kamla and SS, Sir, I should tell you that it is an accomplishment in itself. Something worth finding a place in one's CV.
Jokes apart, that was a great post, Sir. You and your DW have a way of writing. With simple words and direct communication every post of you two first seems to hit our forehead but as we are scratching our foreheads in a state of pleasant pain, we are surprised to see that the post has gone directly into our hearts to stay there for ever.
It's a well deserved victory, Sir. Take Mami out for a grand treat. You two deserve it. And whenever you eat anything yummy just think of this sappattu raman mofussil accountant.
love,
sridhar

Dear Kamla and Soaring Spirit,
You were talking of some proverbs. I know one. Tell me your friends. I'll tell you who you are. But that's pretty hackneyed. I will rather change the proverb to commend the two finest ladies who man (age) the Finest Posts Forum of one of the finest web communities.
Tell me what is the winning entry. I will tell who the judges are.
The selection of LN's post which talks all about integrity and honesty only speak volumes of the professional integrity of you two, Kamla and SS.
And the kind words you have for the other posts talk about your taste and your love.
Every month I see a different winner in the FP of the month thread. But one thing is sure.
Kamla and Soaring Spirit - You two are always the winners here. Month after month.
May you both be blessed.
Take care.
love,
sridhar

Dearest LN Sir,
Heartiest Congratulations for your well deserved win!
With powerful writing such as yours, this win was really inevitable! You left us with no choice at all!
All your posts are a treat to the mind and a delight to the heart. You teach us important lessons of life without us getting a whiff of it.
What I find truly remarkable in your writings is that you connect the mind and the heart so well yet you manage to keep them separate. You clearly narrate the battle of the mind v/s the heart in agiven situation but in the end you show us which one should win. To me, this kind of teaching is simply priceless!
I could write a whole page about all the wonderful qualities of your writings that make you such a popular writer here. But all I will say is that we are extremely happy and very fortunate to have you here. I will give some part of this credit to Mithila M'am whose involvement in IL prompted you to join here!
LN Sir, please continue to enligten us with your wonderful posts. We look forward to many many more from you.
Lots of luv and warm regards,
SS

Dear Varalotti Sir,
Your sweet and kind words always make our spirits soar. When I say we, I speak for Kamla and me.
Like I have said earlier, we can only thank our stars for sending such kind friends our life who have so many good things to say about the littlest of things we do.
I don't think we can thank you enough ever for this gesture.
Lots of luv and warm regards,
SS

My dear LN
My hearty congratulations to you on winning the FP award for April 2009. The term 'veni, vidi, vicci', though originally uttered by Caesar, is generally applied to women but you have done precisely that to ILites! Yes. You have conquered all hour hearts with your down to earth and insightful views on life in your own inimitable style. It is a pity that IL follows a convention of not giving this award for a second time to the same person or like Kamal Hassan and AR Rahman, you will be walking away with it month after month!
I am happy to have been the first to nominate this post and I thank you for giving me an opportunity to do so.
Sri
