| | Finest Posts - January 2009 Winner! Dear friends, Songwriter Jamie O’Hara once wrote - Tell me ‘bout the good old days Sometimes it feels like the world’s gone crazy Take me back to yesterday When the line between right and wrong Didn’t seem so hazy…. Singer Anne Murray once sang – But the melody is changin’ And the words have slipped away And we cannot sing our good old song Like we could in the good old days. In the same supreme league our winner for this month wrote - "Why can’t we just be happy with the present moment, thinking the reverse, that this is the Golden period for me, the future could be worse." After giving all the clues above, do we need to explicitly mention the name of the winner? The winner of January 2009 FP is none other than our very own Kamalji for his extraordinary writing "The Good Old Days". Kamalji needs no introduction in IL. In fact, it is hard for anyone to do enough justice while describing Kamalji ‘s writings in IL simply because it is impossible to describe his valuable contribution in IL in a one page write-up. Kamalji's writings are adored by us readers for many things, candidness and humor being two big ones. And when he does deviate from his usual humour filled posts and writes something non-humorous, he takes IL by storm! His winning post did just that. It stirred up a storm of emotions and quickly balanced the emotions with a lot practical thinking. He made us long for the days gone by with the very title of his post. But that’s how much he let us stay in the past! In his post lay a huge treasure of gems. These gems were a collection of a great deal of positive thinking supported by his own real life examples and some indispensable life lessons that, if followed, will help us tremendously in being a winner in the game of life. His posts always have some of the greatest lessons of life hidden in them and the winning post is no exception. His sentence, “I knew things were too good to be true, and I knew my Auqat, that is my worth, and I knew I am getting much more than I am worth….” . We were simply awe-struck by this sentence of his! Firstly, because it clearly shows his sheer humility and modesty in saying so about himself and secondly, because this simple revelation about himself was an extremely valuable life lesson telling us that one must always be aware of their worth no matter what the situation. I personally gain a lot from the wisdom in his posts! For all your rich contributions, for all the wisdom you so generously share with us, for filling up our days with laughter, for the positive thinking you rub-off on us, and for many wonderful feelings that your writings bring into our daily life - THANK YOU Kamalji! Here’s a toast to you!

L, Kamla | Dear Kamla,
Your note caught me by a very pleasant surprise. And it is so late at yr end, and u took the trouble to inform me at this late hour , when u should have been boggey ing away in a disco on the weekend,i am touched.
Well the hearburn i do give, i am guilty of that, and what i write is a watered down version of what i want to write, but even that gives heartburns eh !
The world and the newspapers are full of surprioses, and when i read something, i want to comment on that, and what i have expierenced on that particular thing in my personal life, so the two combined make my blogs.
When i am reading the newspapers and i come acroos something spicy, my eyes light up, Harsha is sitting oppostie reading the other newspapers, and she tells me, kamal i see yr eyes, and u are upto some mischeif, and then i say, how did u know, i did not say anything? She can read me from miles away.HAHA
And Indus have givem me the platform to write my heart out, and i must thank all of u for being kind to this old man, and to forgive his heartbursn.
Thanks to Kamla, Soraring spirits, she really makes my spirits soar, with her lovely comments, which are better than my blog, Chitra,Cheeniya, allother I Lites, who read and comment on my blogs.
and i specially thank Devika Menon, to whom i first send my posts, to see if anything needs to be edited, as sometimes i do go over the top, and only when she clears it , do i post it here.thanks Devika.and yes that makes her the first to comment too, as she has already read the post too.HAHA
thank u all, i am very greatful to all of u,God bless you.
Regards
kamal

Dear SS,
What a tribute u have paid me, i have never ever received such a lovely one in my entire life of 55 years.Thank u so much, what an i say.
A secret i want to share with u regarding this post.
I was about to post another post, whcih was ready, ( and which has been shelved permentaly, that was about two movies i saw on TV, phool aur patthar, and Teesri Manzil, and myu comments and what i remember happened behind the scences of those movies), and then suddenly i remembered an uncle of mine who visited us a few days back and he was cribbing about the present, and talking about the golden past, and i remembered the golden past period, when he was cribbing then too about life.
that brought about this blog, and i shelved the other one, and started to write what came in my heart, and the blog was written and posted in around 20 mins flat or so.
The response was not very good, the first day, and i regretted posting it, and wanted to delete it, as it did not have many takers, and i realisxed that readers dont want this sentimental stuff fromme, they want my humour and spice, but i found so many comments, that it made my day.
and this is the blog that i wanted to delete, and this is the one that won.
Life is strange SS, and yr comments on hte blog, and here well , thank u, thank u thanku, and sorry for the long m,onologue.
God bless u all.Regards
kamal

My dear Kamal
Hearty congratulations!
I am sure that you'll be flooded with congratulatory messages given your immense popularity here. By the time you finish replying all, your keyboard will be so tired that it will hang up its shoes like Sourav Ganguly!
What surprised me most was Kamla toasting and drinking with you. On a closer look at the glasses, I found the content to be just plain butter milk and not the 'Sher ka dhoot' that Sindhis and Punjabis are extremely fond of!
If I were Soaring Spirit, I would award each post of yours the FP of the Month.
Bravo. old boy! Keep it up!
Sri
