| | Finest Post - February 2009 Nominations Dear friends, As we move towards the month of February, love seems to be in the air much stronger. What with the big-display-of-love day alias Valentine’s day being this month! Well, none of us can escape the heavenly embrace of love, affection and cheer that is at its epitome in this month. Imagine sharing not just love and cheer but also some good and wonderful writings with the ones you like and love? Wouldn’t this add wings to their flight as they float in the heaven of love? I think it sure would. So pour in your nominations like you have never before! Share here the writings that you have enjoyed, the writings that make you laugh, the ones that make you think, the ones that bring a balance to your mind, the ones that inspire you, the ones that soothe your mind…. The list is endless and so are we hoping the nominations to be too! With this we flag off the nominations for February 2009. Rules of the game remain the same as that of last month and the month before and the month before! But a quick revision never hurts. So, once again - Each member is allowed to nominate up to 4 posts only. This ensures that each of us have a hand in deciding the winning post as we will filter our choice more closely, thus making the winner more significant. The nominations will be closed on the 26th of every month. Simultaneously, the nomination thread for the following month will be opened. This will avoid the heartburn that the moderators experience at the very last minute of every month!! In case of nominating FBs, please remember to add a link to the FB and not to the original post. The following gives step-wise instructions on adding links to your nominations – - To a link to the original post that you are nominating : How do I add a "Link" in my message? - To add a link to the FB that you are nominating : How do I create a link to an existing message posted in IL? Lots of luv, Kamla and SS |

Oviya my dear,
Thanks for the grand opening of the Feb 2009 nominations.
Usha's bird is really flying high in IL and is reaching newer heights. To be nominated multiple times and in consecutive month's nominations is no mean feat and this little Tweety seems to have acheived it!
It was a touching story by Usha in her usual simple yet endearing style.
It deserves to be the opening post-man, oops bats-man, umm... okay you know what I mean friends, for this month's FP nominations!
Luv,
SS

Dear Kamla and SS,
I have come here to open my February Account with my whole-hearted nomination of Mithila Kannan's story Amirtham, The Mother of all Mothers in Law
In the typical classical style the finest writer of our site, Mithilakannan has traced the life of her character from birth to death. While we smile at the little Amirtham who runs away soon after her meals to avoid doing the chore of cleaning the place, we start respecting her when she nurses her sister-in-law who had suffered a burn injury. And when she requests her son to bring a stool and table for eldest daughter-in-law so that her saree is not spoilt we stand up from our seats and salute her with tearful eyes.
When she dies with a smile in her lips, we feel that an era, a sahabtham has ended.
If only I have the power I will request Amirtham's soul to be born again and again in this world and teach us what love is all about.
You won't be the same after reading the piece.
love,
sridhar

Dear Kamalji and Mindi,
Thank you for bringing OJ-da's wonderful and affable blog " Buddhu vs Aristotle -- Kaun jitaa, Kaun haraa?".
Since this is a blog (as opposed to a post made in the forums), this nomination rightfully belongs to the Finest Blog of the month contest. The nominations for the blog of the month of January 2009 close on Jan 30th.
So please rush in to nominate this blog of OJ-da here.
Luv,
SS
