| | Finest Post - January 2009 Nominations The whole worlds broke and it ain't worth fixing
Its time to start all over, make a new beginning
Theres too much pain, too much suffering
Lets resolve to start all over make a new beginning
Now don't get me wrong - I love life and living
But when you wake up and look around at everything thats going down -
All wrong
You see we need to change it now, this world with too few happy endings
We can resolve to start all over make a new beginning
Start all over..start all over..start all over
-Tracy Chapman I took a cue from my co-moderator and quote a song to start off this new thread for our New Year-2009!
The attacks on Mumbai last month brought us a lot of pain and hurt, lots of frustration at our own helplessness and a lot of introspection too. But we move on and move forward because that is the only thing left for us to do. But let us all do so with the right convictions. Everyone of us can contribute in our own little way to make a better world.
At IL, it is a better world indeed! We just have to look around to see how readily our members help each other and bring out the best in each other and try to thwart the unwanted elements.
It is a pleasure to log in and read a poem that speaks to you or thoughts that provoke you. And what other better place to find them than the Finest Post forum?!
So, here we are, opening the New thread for the New Year. Do come and nominate your choice of the best posts and let us start the New Year with a...no, not a bang...but a lyric or a prose!
We wish you all a Happy and Healthy 2009!
With love from SoaringSpirit and Kamla -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS:We bring you the following points to refresh your memory and to remember while nominating: Each member is allowed to nominate up to 4 posts only. This ensures that each of us have a hand in deciding the winning post as we will filter our choice more closely, thus making the winner more significant. The nominations will be closed on the 26th of every month. Simultaneously, the nomination thread for the following month will be opened. This will avoid the heartburn that the moderators experience at the very last minute of every month!! In case of nominating FBs, please remember to add a link to the FB and not to the original post. The following gives step-wise instructions on adding links to your nominations – - To a link to the original post that you are nominating : How do I add a "Link" in my message? - To add a link to the FB that you are nominating : How do I create a link to an existing message posted in IL?

Dear Vahee,
Welcome to FP. You are the first to open this new thread on the first of the New Year!
Besides, you come with a very fitting nomination to start off our new year's nominations. The warm tribute by Jaya to our most eminent ILite Chithra is very befitting.
Thank you.

Dear Friends,
I wish to nominate Ojaantrik's delightful narration Debu-da -- Large Man in a Larger World
The state of a man, "larger than life" for no fault of his, is beautifully etched.
I loved the comparison of Debuda to a giraffe entering an igloo!
OJ's style of narration is very impressive and captures our attention totally!
Such posts, being less common, call them unusual, make very enjoyable reading!
Love,
Chithra.
Respected oj-da,
It is my prvilege to nominate a post by you, eminent as you are with your
craftsmanship with words. We, the induladies team, welcome you back in your midst and we hope, you enjoy writing for us. Do continue your association with us.
Regards,
Chithra.

My dear Chithu,
Thank you so much bringing such a splendid piece - Debu-da -- Large Man in a Larger World, by OJ-da.
OJ's writing about Debu-da has a loving combination of warmth, nostalgia and sheer affection. It instantly makes you feel good.
To re-iterate Chithu's words, we are very happy to have you back in our fold OJ -da. A hearty welcome back! Giving your stellar writing skills, we are all looking forward a great feast of wonderful writing from you.

Hi!
Wish you all @ FP a very happy and peaceful New Year!
I would like to nominate Kamalji's great piece on the Global meltdown of 2008....
The way he has linked this phenomenon to the Gita is truly striking...
You can read this @ " The Grand Illusion"
Cheers!

Dear Chithrakka,
What a good choice. I too read Ojaantrik's Debu-da and found his writing style amazing.
Also, loved the term you coined for him, Oj-da! So that's how I will address him from now on. Suits him to the T!

Dear Vase,
Nice to see you here after a long time.
You are right, Kamalji's The Grand Illusion is surely one of his best posts.
Thank you for the same.
