| | Finest Posts - September 2008 Winner! Dear friends, As we announce the winner for the month of September, I am reminded of the following lines from the song “I need you” by LeAnn Rimes - I need you like water Like breath, like rain I need you like mercy From heaven’s gate There’s freedom in your arms That carries me through I need you .. Well, this may be a song written for a significant other. But in today’s times when finding good domestic help has become a crisis, this could very well be sung for another “so-called significant other” in our life - the maid! Our winning post started off with this basic need and transformed into a beautiful relationship of unspoken dependence between a maid and her employer’s family. Due to its appeal to the masses, this post was nominated repeatedly in the FP not just this month but couple other months too! Without further ado, let me announce the winner for the FP of the month of September - Venonimiss (lovingly called Venus) for her contribution The invisible Companions In her post Venus brings forth a totally different hue to the role of a house maid. Only someone who’s “I-am- grateful” sense is sensitive enough to recognize these invisible companions can think of a maid as a “contributor” in shaping their life, no matter however small the contribution. Venus’s writings always have extra dollops of affection that pulls the heart by the strings. She seems to do a lot of “quality” inward thinking. She has mastery over portraying feelings and emotions that are not in-the-face kinds. Whether it is her musings about her role as a mother or this one where she fondly remembers her maid, she touches a nerve in us that was unknown to us until now! Her style of writing is smooth like silk and the words she uses are just the perfect blend of sophistication and simplicity. Neither too ostentatious nor too bland – just perfect! To me, this is the hallmark of her writing. Venus, thanks for this beautiful and gentle reminder to all of us to remember all those people who worked hard in their own small ways to get us where we are today! Well Venus, we now eagerly await your acceptance speech that you have been practicing for the Pulitzer win! We know this award may be no Pulitzer, but it is undoubtedly a very very worthy win! Especially considering that each post nominated in the month of September was a strong reminder of IL’s rich heritage in the form of abundantly and amazingly talented writers! Attached below is a picture of the beautiful gift you will receive. Please send your mailing address to "Induslady" via PM. Heartiest Congratulations Venus! Lotus007, this makes you a winner too for spotting and nominating the winning entry! Luv, Kamla and SS

Congratulations on winning the FP for the month of September..
This win of your's was long overdue.
Your win goes to show that good writings will Never be forgotten with time and will only mature like a good old wine! It also is an example to prove that winning posts in FP need not be the latest entries and old and beautiful will always attain their cherished place
I read your Invisible Companion months ago and re-read it again and it never seems to lose the charm no matter how many times one reads it.
Bring more such unforgettable pieces to us. Here's wishing you the real Pulitzer!!

Dear Venus,
Congrats! 'The Invisible Companions' is a piece that has lived with me for months, since it was first, and then repeatedly nominated. A tribute to a less acknowledged group, a sketch of a woman striving to make odds meet and ends tally, a flow of emotions by an empowered one- look at it anyway and it is awesome. In gender-studies, the service contributions of such agents can never be stressed enough. It is a piece that above all teaches us to be grateful for these empowering women who enable other women to follow pursuits like software, teaching or accountancy. Thanks for highlighting that. Love all your blogs in IL, your words are as beautiful as your name.
Dear SS,
The winning post declaration qualifies for a FP nomination. Your words in FP be they accepting a nomination or declaring the winner- they all have a hug, a smile, a warmth accompanying them. If Kamla can spin a rainbow with her words, you can set a kaleidoscope. Loved the LeAnn Rimes song, learning more from you there.
Dear Kamla,
Nice to have you back. You do spread a radiance wherever you are, with your thoughts and words.
Venus, SS, Kamla- loving you all.
