| | Finest Post - May 2008 Winner ! Dear friends,
This month's winner will come as a 'no surprise' to all of you. Without much ado, here I present our IL 'writer of the season' --- Mithila Kannan for her:
"My Mother was, is and always will be an Enigma". It is also a fitting win for this month of May when the whole world celebrated the Mother!
"My Mother.." is a piece that should be read by everyone of us to learn that no tragedy is too big to give up on life and living. Though her own world simply crumbled around her, Padmasini rose out of the ashes like an Amazon to build a positive world for her daughter. An exemplary woman. All of us are able to gauge her successful efforts without any doubt from the living proof >> our own Mithila!
Thank you Mithila Kannan for sharing her with all of us.
Congratulations on this wonderful tribute to your mother.

| | Re: Finest Post - May 2008 Winner ! Dear friends,
To select A winner for the Finest Post of the month is becoming the most daunting chore, believe you me :)
Are we going to give up on it though ?! No, no way, because it is also the most rewarding job on IL where we get to read the best of the best and who will want to deny themselves such a pure pleasure ?:)
Mithila Kannan may have won for her piece on her mother this month, but she has been a constant winner in all our hearts, thanks to her many many anecdotes, stories and posts that has been filling our IL columns for the past couple of months. This win is a befitting recognition of all her writings.
World celebrates Mother in the month of May. Many of our writers too came in with excellent tributes to their mothers or experiences, feelings and thoughts based on this most loving being on earth, Mother. I was especially smitten with Malspie's mother -- very close to my concept of a wholesome woman. Venonimiss gave us a very sweet and lovely piece on motherhood, her little one is to be envied! Devika's mother won a very special and warm place in my heart.
Devika, a recent winner of FP , is enthralling us with her amazing stories, poems and write ups which never seem to quench our thirst to read more from her. 'The Adopted Vision' has received numerous nominations which makes her a winner by default !
In the same breath, I have to mention Anandchitra who seems to transform ordinary everyday happenings into great musings which all of us are enjoying immensely. She sees her win in that fact and willingly withdrew from this winning game:) Ac ruled the nominations forum this month with 5 nominations!
We also had two wonderful entries from our Travel forum this month -- Out of Africa and My Memorable Trip to Niagara. I feel I had a much deserved vacation upon reading these write ups. As 'Travel' is forum of this month, these write ups too are bound to receive their due recognition.
Similarly, Malspie awed us all from the Sports forum with her untiring and inspired reporting of the IPL matches. Any wonder it has received tremendous viewership?!
The joy of reading the month's nominations doubled up with the many excellently humorous contributions by some of our members, Uncannybal leading this clan in his uncanny way! Must admit I was smiling while buying shoes or even while visiting the dentist..thanks to FP!
Yes, this month's nomination list was a heady concoction alright exposing us to a cocktail of varied emotions. Along with our regular stalwarts like Varalotti, we had many new entrants like Brindha, Sowparnika, Balajee, to mention a few. FP is thriving, getting richer in prose and poetry, what with such gifted writers around us.
And the magical part of it is, we ALL are winners, those whose writings get read and those who read :)
Love,
Kamla

My dear Kamla and Vidya,
Right now as Iam writing this reply, my body is shaking with sobs and I am not able to contol my tears, tears of emotion, happiness and thrill that because of and through indusladies.com and all of you who gave me tremendous support and encouraged this old woman to keep writing,I have been able to pay tribute to my mother.
I thank you,my dear friends Kamla and Vidya ,for the joy you have given me.I do not think that even in the years to come anything else in my life will give me the happiness that this honour of winning the finest post of the month of May, has given me.It is not the winning of the contest,it is the opportunity to pay a tribute to my mother because of whom Iam what Iam today and you people gave me this opportunity to share my feelings with others and acknowledging her role in shaping me up and standing by me through thick and thin.
What else can I say?I owe this happiness in receiving this honour from you to you only and to all the ILites who have become my extended family.
God bless you all.

Oh dear Mithila,
It is not you who should be thanking us, it is us who should be thanking you for all the pleasure you give us through your writings.
Ofcourse, you should thank your dear mother who has been exemplary mother and all of us can learn from her.
We are here just to carry out the motions of FP forum and do so with care and objectivity.
I am touched with your response. Thank you.
L, Kamla
