Mothers- they bring out the best in us, their children. And when we become mothers/parents ourselves, we scale new new heights in our evolution as persons. Venonimiss has paid a tribute to Mothers world wide with this article. From a gleefully pregnant woman eating broccoli(Venus- that qualifies you for many bumper gifts) and handling gestational diabetis, to a show off mom sending baby pics around, to a mature mom getting back to Indian tradition, prayers and meditation to guide her daughter, to a determined mom who knows that she can take on the angst of an adoloscent teen----

My Mother was,is and always will be an enigma to me

Mithili is a great writer, but a greater human being.what more can we say about her.God bless her, and her family, and we are proud toknow u Mythili.It is my good fortune to read your blogs, and i hopei get to meet u in person some day.

Iam happy that you enjoyed meeting my mother and liked her.She was a deceptively timid person,when the need came she rose to the occasion.

Dear Kamalji,

Thank you for nominating a soft, sweet, strong and substantial post. Mithila's mother is a profile in courage. We always look upto billboards for heroes and role models, in life they are actually found in our homes. The struggle of a single mother to raise three children, of which one is a young daughter, is never easy. And in those times, it must have been harder and sadder than what it is now. Padmasaniamma is a lesson to all of us in IL on how to lead our lives unflinchingly in the face of adversity.

Mithila Kannan's post is one that showcases a range of moods and lessons. The unbelievable incident where her mother loses her husband brought tears to the eye. Any other wife would have quailed under the shock, but Padmasaniamma brought out fortitude and patience to get over that situation, and to rear her children especially daughter. If we see strength and conviction in Mithila's words today, we now know that it is because of a beacon light in her mother. A truly monumental piece.
