Dear All, I would like to know about where can I buy decorated marapachi dolls in Chennai? I have checked online sites where the price is quite costly ( about 3500 to 4k rupees). My budget is maximum 2k to 2.5k. Kindly let me know the shops! Waiting for your responses! Many Thanks :hatsoff
I have seen them at Kuralagam near High court and Victoria Technical Institue, Anna salai near (Spencer plaza). You might see them in some shops like Giri traders at Mylapore. I have seen Marapachi in 2 different sizes in these places, so you might be able to get it within your budget.
:welcome Sister Jan1012 to IL Family, Yes, I concur with the views of Sister Ganthimathi and also add Indra Stores (opp Giri Trading) closer to Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple. Dear Gandimathi and Sai, Thanks a ton for your suggestions I had visited the shops you recommended yesterday. Finally I landed up in Triplicane, where an uncle is making marapachi dolls, Dry coconut carvings and sugar candies and other stuffs for marriage and other functions at a very nominal charge. FYI : Decorated Marapachi of 12 inches is 1900rs. One carved dry coconut piece is 200rs and sugar candies - 300rs per kg.
