It seems Akishya tritiya is an auspicious day to start anything new.Its effect would last throughtout the year.I t is not just buying jewllery. It is an important day wherein you remember your fore fathers and do the necessary rituals for them .You can also do some charity on that day like giving clothes, food or books to needy. It seems the avatar Parusuram was born on this day and Lord Ganapati started writing Mahabarata on behalf of Vysar on this day.So let us utilise this day by doing something good to the soceity.

There is one more info.It seems akshya means never diminishing. It seems Draupadi saved Lord Krishna ,with a piece of cloth when he lost hisclothes while bathing in the river. The same Draupadi was saved by Lord Krishna with endless metres of cloth when she called out for help. This is supposed to have happened on this day.So let us do whatever we can do for the welfare of our community.

Dear Kanaka ma'm, Thanks for sharing these informations. Don't know when people started buying gold for Akshaya thritheeya. When we can do so many good things on that day, why media is focussing only on buying gold? How else can they do business, isn't it? Love Diya
