I have PCOS and my periods are regular.usually 28-30 days and bleeding will be for first 2 days.I am normal weight. My age is 29

I have been married for 1 and half years and TTC.Waited for 1 year and we approached the doctor 6 months back. They did semen test for him and his reports were normal. Since i have PCOS they did a blood test on 21st day and the doctor thought that i may have problems in ovulation

To induce ovulation the doctor asked me to take clomid.I took it for 3 cycles 100mg drom D2-D6.The next 2 cycles i was asked to take fempro( 5mg ) from day 2-6
    .
When i was tested on the 13th day ,my body responded well to the tablets(5 cycles). Each time there were 1 or 2 follicles and were in good size, each time it was more than 20mm but i was not able to conceive . To check the rupture of the follicles they did a vaginal scan on the 3rd day of the periods and since the follicles were not found the doctor said that's ruptured. Is this they normally do to see the rupture of follicles or is there any other method ?

The Doctor said the next step is laproscopy

With laproscopy will they just test the tube blocks or will they remove cyst, as i have PCOS.I am asking this because my doctor once said that PCOS cyst need not be removed and its like diabetes or any other disease which will be lifelong and with that one will be able to conceive .

Anyone has PCOS and went for laproscopy?Since i responded well to the ovulation inducing tablets what will be the actual problem? :confused2:

    Hi Rose,
Welcome to Indus Ladies & to this forum. You can find our forum guideliens here...

I am not sure whether i have PCOS or not. But have insulin resistance & have undergone Laparoscopy, but a diagnotic one. Means, no other procedures done, just monitoring the fallopian tubes & uterus.

You can reduce the effects of PCOS with proper diet & exercise. If you are over weight, concentrate on weight reduction & exercise. (check your BMI with your height & weight.) If untreated, PCOS can lead to Diabetics in future. Have you gone through HSG? HSG is simpler one compared to Lap & will help know about fallopian tubes & uterus.

Radiologist/gynec can confirm the rupture of follicles by doing a scan after expected ovulation or after a HCG injection. I hope only ultra sound can confirm on follicle rupture in your body.

Responding well for the tablets is not a problem, but good in terms of conceiving.
Be positive. One fine day you will become pregnant. Leave the stress. Be happy.
    Baby dust to you!

    :thankyou2: vasumathy for the reply

My doctor suggested Laproscopy as the next step.I thought HSG and Laproscopy are same :confused2:

What are the tests they do in HSG and what's the difference between laproscopy and HSG?(In terms of the tests done)

How many days after the periods these tests should be done?

    Hi Rose,
Compared to Lap, HSG is simpler. Lap needs a day hospitalization; HSG doesn't need it. You may need to be in hospital/lab about 2 hrs for HSG. Lap will take soem more time. Lap is a key hole surgery. You will have the marks in your abdomen as a sign of lap done. HSG won't have all these.
But compared to HSG results, lap results are more reliable.
Beyond all these, both of these tests are for seeing the tube block & uterus condition. With lap, PCOS people can have Ovarian drilling done. May be some other corrective measures can be done. This is not possible with HSG.

    Hope these helps you!

    Hi Rose,
I can understand your problem. I also faced the same problem. I will suggest you to take second opinion and not go for laproscopy because after all its a surgery. To check the blockage in tubes you just go for HSG test, its a little painful but worth it. I will suggest you to take proper treatment from any good infertility specialist and remember don't take much tensions.
