Default Re: Follicle Growth

hai freinds
i am just want to clear some of my doubts.before that i just want to explain my position.
I have PCOS, i took clomid 50 mg for 2 of my cycles. In my first cycle i tried to track my ovulation using BBT but i cant track it. no periods till 50 days and induced to get my periods. In my second cycle again used BBT and i went for follicular study and saw 8mm follicle on day 11 and after that dint went for follicular study and cant able to track my ovulation day for that cycle too. And i was induced to get my periods. and last month i dint ttc we were asked to do the following
1. hsg (result- both tubes or open)
2.seman analysis (count 39.6 million and motility 50%)
3.blood test for testosterone (now normal before it was too high)

by gods grace all the results came in favour of us.and today is cd 34 waiting for my periods if it doesn't come till cd 40 going to take the pills. and my gyne told us to try with clomid 100mg for next cycle, then clomid 150 mg then with femera and if nothing works then to try with injections.....
i asked him about IUI but he told that he wont wash the sperms he will just insert the sperm through my cervix using the catheter ( the way the do it in fiji ) so i dont want to do that. if i follow according with his advise its taking two months for each cycle and with induced periods for alteast the next one more year.
i just want to know what are the other ways i can try
1. to get back my periods normally (i am taking methi and lost 9 kgs in four months)
2.to track my ovulations days when i dont know the specific time (planning to buy opk this cycle )
3.natural foods to take for follicle growth
is there any test i have take to diagnosis my problem if any. i think if i have good follicles i can get out of all my problems. what you all say......
please advise me what should i do from my next cycle to get good follicle and to ovulate.........

sorry for the big post

Aishu...I find sooooo many red flags with your gyenac.

1. hsg (result- both tubes or open) - AWESOME
2.seman analysis (count 39.6 million and motility 50%) - Good count no problems there
3.blood test for testosterone (now normal before it was too high) - Good

My doubts
1. If you have tried 100 gm of clomid, why try that again
2. If all you have is PCOS and everything else is fine...you just need to Ovulate once and your chances increase. Has he asked you to try metmorfin with clomid?
3. What about the endometrial thickness which reduces with clomid? Is he giving you estrogen supplements to support that? These supplements shd be taken before IUI/Ovulation to ensure Implantation.
4. How can he do IUI without washing sperms? Its dangerous...and you will end up with heavy heavy cramping. You sure about this? Please please check with some other dr also. Am worried about this.

Frankly, All you need is to Ovulate and get that one good follicle inspite of PCOS. You have lost weight..things look good. Get your OPKs and try one cycle without meds or if you want to try with Clomid, go ahead and do that..but please ask for the estrogen supplements. If not...Go in for injectibles and try timed intercourse. If you had been in any other country, You would have gotten pregnant by now. You only have PCOS for gods sake and everything else is fine. Try for 2 months with OPK and timed intercourse..If not think about Injectables. Am sure it will solve your problems.
Will tell you what my cousin did. She knew she had PCOS even before marriage and her periods were irregular. She had a love marriage and they decided to keep this a secret. After marriage, they wanted to see if she ovulates with medication just for the heck of it. After a 90 day induced period, she went to my family gyenac, got injectibles (Some Rs.10k or something) and injected herself for 5 days just to see if she ovulates and she forgot about it. She ovulated 6 days later and got pregnant without even planning for it. So...all you need is one good follicle and she got it from the injectibles and they also do not hamper your thickness.

Hi Aishu,
Whether other hormones has been analysed? Like Prolactin? Whether those thing are normal? I had higher Prolactin level which is supposed to affect other hormone balance & reproductive organs work...

Wait for 2 cycle. May be with Clomid. If possile, try to get follicular study/OPK! These will tell you ovulation information most exact. Go for timed intercourse... If these things doesn't click injectables will help you. If you are not able to succeed with these, try IUI may be with other RE!

Try to finf out you hcg levels after 2 weeks, may be blood work will do. If there is no good amount of hcg, you can induce the periods soon right? In that way may be your cycle length will come optimal but you will need to spend more!

Relax. Your routines & health seems to be fine... Just relax during your 2WW!
Baby dust to you...

Aishu,

I have a doubt here.Sorry to threaten you.Has the shape of your uterine cavity been analysed? Is it normal?

I also would want to know whether your LH,FSH and prolactin levels are normal.

IUI with no sperm wash is not at all acceptable.Just make sure about this thing. It bothers me a lot

Unblocked tubes and good quality sperms are a boon now a days.Hence all your worries are temporary.

Good Luck!

My doubts
1. If you have tried 100 gm of clomid, why try that again
no vidya i have taken clomid 50 mg only for two cycles.this is the first time i am going to start with clomid. i asked my dr to give me injections but he told it may hyper activate the hormones so to try with clomid 100mg and 150 mg first then to try with femera (actually i asked him to change to femera from this coming cycle but he dont want to do that too )and then with injections

2. If all you have is PCOS and everything else is fine...you just need to Ovulate once and your chances increase. Has he asked you to try metmorfin with clomid?
yes i am taking metformin 500mg evaryday in the morning before breakfast for last 3 months. because of that only my testosterone level is normal now. thats the only problem for the past 1 year i am really lost because i dont whats the lengh of my normal cycle and my O- day. so this time planned to buy opk
3. What about the endometrial thickness which reduces with clomid? Is he giving you estrogen supplements to support that? These supplements shd be taken before IUI/Ovulation to ensure Implantation.

no he never measured my ET and never given my estrogen suppliments.even the follicular study was requested by me to see my follicles size. the only thing i dont like with him is he never helped me to find my ovulation.

4. How can he do IUI without washing sperms? Its dangerous...and you will end up with heavy heavy cramping. You sure about this? Please please check with some other dr also. Am worried about this.
i know i explained him a lot of times but he always says it will be done only for ivf not for iui only then i dropped the plan of doing iui with him.

If you had been in any other country, You would have gotten pregnant by now.
you are 100% correct vidhu you know only july 2008 i discovered that i had pcos. that time i was consulting a lady doctor she put me on family planning pills till jan 09 (i really wasted that time) i told her 1000 times that i want to conceive but she told this is the way they can treat with pcos so i agreed .after stopping that pills i dint get my periods for 3 months i use to run to her every 10 days but her only answer is please wait till you get your periods.i made century in that cycle. than i got irritated with her then changed with present dr. but he really guided me well becoz of him only i came to diagnosis all this things. but few thing with him is really irritating . jus planning to try as he told for 3 more cycle and also searching for new RE who can do iui properly.
.

yes vasu. i took blood test last may 09 and my dr told that all my other hormones are normal only the testosterone is high. so he prescribed me metformin and now that too is normal.but dont know why i am not getting my periods.

Wait for 2 cycle. May be with Clomid. If possile, try to get follicular study/OPK! These will tell you ovulation information most exact. Go for timed intercourse... If these things doesn't click injectables will help you. If you are not able to succeed with these, try IUI may be with other RE!
yes , i am planning for do the same thing. and 1 more problem is no injections available in fiji have to order it from New Zealand.

my dr has already given me prescription for primoult-n to induce my period if i dint get my period after cd40. he never want to find the reason why my periods are irregular.

Relax. Your routines & health seems to be fine... Just relax during your 2WW!
Baby dust to you...

thank you vasu

Question Re: Follicle Growth

hi friends
after posting the replies i just went through my blood work results.my dr told that all other hormone except testosterone but he never explained about each range. even i tried to browse about the range but i cant find the particular range.i just want to post my hormone levels given in my result. can any one please tell me whether is that normal

blood test taken on cd 21
fasting status: non-fasting.

THYROID FUNCTIONING TEST

TSH -- 1.00 mlU/L
Free T4 --- 17.63 pmol/L
Free T3 --- 4.98 pmol/L

PROLACTIN ---8.01 ug/l

LH --- 7.54 IU/L

FSH --- 4.58 IU/L

PROGESTERONE --- 23.24 nmol/L

ESTRADIOL --- 235 pmol/L

TESTOSTERONE --- 8.63 nmol/L

he told only testosterone is high asked me to take metformin and again test only that hormone and last week got the result that

TESTOSTERONE --- 1.96 nmol/L
he told now all the hormones are normal

please explain me is that all normal............if so why my periods are delayed. i am not getting it without pills.this is the only thing disturbing me.

aishu,

Generally blood report shows the normal range for each harmones along with patients readings. That can help you see if you are within limits.

Also, each lab has their own measurement standards and hence each lab can have their own within range values. I think you can talk to the lab and find out their normal range values for each harmone levels they tested.

Also, I see LH is more compare to FSH. My doctor said most of the time LH value more than FSH value indicates PCOS.
