Dear Vasumathy,
Dr. recommended that I need to be on Provera until my cycle returns. My worry is the potential side effects this pill might cause while ttc.
Is there any herbs to get period the natural way? If so could you or anyone who took herbal supplement or tea share your experience?
with luv,
- Lalitha

Hi Lalitha,
I don't have much idea about Provera, but heard some ppl in TTC is using it to induce periods! I suppose other IL's used this tablet can help you for your doubts!
Sorry dear. I don't have any natural remedies to induce period. Check some old threads which talks about inducing periods in gynecology forum! I suppose that might help you!

dear lalitha,
ovulation as well as menstruation are both governed by progesterone, estrogen and follicle stimulating hormones.if these hormones are out of harmony, the entire mentrual cycle gets disturbed.
as far as birth control pills are concerned, i have taken them for almost a year and half before we started looking for other contraceptive options.and the only reason i stopped them is coz i was quite lazy to take them!!!These pills are very safe, and ask her to give you the ones with low levels of progesterone, so as to not make you feel dizzy. i remember taking progestrone only pill... the possible side effect would be a tiny little weight gain but that would only be a kilo or so!
but then i am not quite sure whether they should be used to regulate your periods! cross check with another gynaec, as to why you have delayed missed periods.....people do use them as menses regulators though, but then there could be reasons as to why theres an issue with your periods in the first place...
relax and do regular cardio like say walking or swimming... it helps!keep a check on your weight too..
i found this article useful http://www.center4research.org/qna13.html
all the best..

- Lalitha | Hi Lalitha,
I always had a cycle of 30-45 days. Ever since we decided to TTC since this Jan, I am not ovulating and am getting my periods only after taking provera. I wouls suggest dont waste your cycles waiting f or periods (this is what my doc told) If you dont get periods take provers and induce periods so that you can have another TTc cycle. I have effectively had only 4 cycles for TTc this entire year just by waiting for periods. Also, talk to your doc about clomid to induce ovulation.
Good luck |

Thats true. no point wasting time. I had my first cycle on clomid and got my periods on its own without provera on day 34. Some use with clomid! |

Girls, I want to give my views here based on my experience, I also have irregular periods, but I tried the natural ways to induce ovulation ,
(1)soy worked good for me, Soy isoflavons(soy protien powder, or soy sprouts) has weak estrogens which works like estrogen , so I take it from day 7 to 14 and stop, then it mimics like substituting with estrogen, body understands to ovulate and I get ovulatated atleast on 22nd day of cycle. it works for me, my nutritionist suggested me and It successed me,
also she told using
(2) Flax oil capsules from new moon day to full moon day and primerose oil capsules from full moon day to new moon day. it is according to moon cycle not our menstruation cycles, it seems it works for many ladies, I think this is also helping me although I cannot say this alone is inducing ovulation.
(3) sprouts - I eat daily as a breakfast without fail, it has good protien value and good fats which is necessary for hormone synthesis.
apart from them, I do little yoga, pranayama, or threadmill atleast 3 times a week, all thse are contributing for good reproductive health.
Sujatha.
